Right Rear Caliper Doesn't Fit- SUGGESTIONS???
Installing new set of calipers on my 1966 purchased from CA (LoneStar). Three calipers went on with no problems but the last (right rear) just will not aline correctly for the caliper bolts to be threaded. I can get the rear bolt in but the front bolt won't go in or starts in crooked. The caliper ear is not laying flat against the hub bracket - slight gap. I have moved, pushed, rattled etc. the caliper to close the gap and aline the holes to in place the bolt but no success. The bolts go into the hub bracket fine without the caliper so the internal threads are ok. I don't want to admit how may hours I have spent on this endeavor. What am I MISSING?? What am I doing WRONG?? THANKS for any advice.

I do not know when you the other calipers were removed....if it was five minuets before you went to put these new ones on ...or if they have been off for a long time and other things were done to the trailing arms....so I can only assume.
The ONLY things I can think of that may cause this:
1.) The caliper mounting bracket is cracked and not correct now. I have seen this ...because there is a weak spot in it and it can crack of messed with too much.
2.) The rotor is not fully seated and cocked and causing the caliper to also be cocked.
3.) And actually having a damaged ear on the caliper...but that one is also a 'stretch' due to how stout they are there. Cast iron does not like to bend or dent...it will snap off....so I doubt it is the caliper housing...BUT that is if it is a DELCO MORAINE caliper or the aftermarket type...which was not mentioned.
I can 'say' that I often times run into this and it is due to the rotor not being seated with three lug nuts....about 90% of the time I can get them to bolt up with no problem...but there are a few at times that make me work for it...and I had one the other day that fought me....but it went on....and it was the caliper I had just removed.
Lastly would be remove the other rear caliper an preform a good visual on it and then take a tape measure to it and see if you can find something wrong in the bolt locations.

Try one of the OLD ONES and see if it bolts on, then you'll know if its the caliper or the 'plate/bracket' thats messed up...

Yup, I used to just hit the END button to reach the bottom and reply or just to see the last post. Something on this forum changed and now it takes you into related but old threads. I made the same mistake already also.
I guess we need to pay attention when hitting the end button.
