Heater/defrost console 1960
The labels on the heater console face panel have faded over time. I thought of getting a very fine artists brush and repainting the letters but these 71 year old hands aren't as steady as they use to be. Does anyone have any suggestions to make the letters black again?
Thanks,
Bud

Then dip a rag with paint thinner and lightly go over the area.
The indents with the letters should bold again

Many use these as an alternative and they work quite well:

The product rubs on, gets in deep, eventually hardens and, if done soon after application, the excess rubs off easily. Doesn't require rock steady hands by any means...

I wish the chrome border didn't chip so easily on these, its not a part that you would want to rechrome given the machined surface of the face.

Too bad that the repro's are so different than the originals, as most of the originals are pitted pretty badly. The originals have a brushed finish that is almost dead smooth, but the repro's have a pretty pronounced grain! You would think at after all these years, the vendors making these would modify their graining to look more like the originals.
