Kelsey Hayes - real or repro?
I've read that original K-H knockoffs are easily distinguishable from any reproductions, but I find it hard to tell the difference without seeing the stamp on the back. Just wonder if anyone can tell the difference from 10 feet away:

I have seen folks claim they can tell originals by the difference in the spokes and the outer rim. They say it's obvious from 10 feet away. Just wondering if anyone can tell if the wheel in the pic I posted is real or repro, and if so, how?

The first repro wheels where made for western wheel by KH in the USA and the spinners where made in USA with no marking on the back. The next where made in Taiwan with wider fins and the lip where the weights go is not as deep as original. Easy to see 20 ft away. Taiwan printed on the spinner. The latest repro is harder to tell with the fins corrected.

Tapered fins is news to me Deejaydu. Never seen a set of K-H knock offs with tapered fins. I do agree the color looks dark for a 65 wheel, but it could be just the lighting and camera angle.
On your wheels SW Vette, the fins do look thin ... which is much like the originals and quite different than the early Western Wheel and subsequent repops which were noticably thicker. The outer concave area looks deep and rounded the way the originals where, as opposed to the shallow concave rim on early repops. The color does looks a tad dark in your photo ... originals were close to "Cast Blast" grey color.
I've attached a closeup photo of an original 65 K-H wheel dated B61165 for comparison. Bill

Bill maybe I should have said slightly less thin or slightly less round on the outer edge of the fin. If you look closely at your picture you can see the difference or you can mic both ends of the fin and it will show that they are ever so slightly different.
