Default C2 ('67 BB) oil and filter question

I'm curious as to what the consensus is with regards to choice of oil and filter (spin on) for your BB rides. Do you use a zinc additive ?

I don't think a "consensus" is possible on the subject. But FWIW, I use the original canister with a Wix/ NAPA 1143 filter element and Amsoil AMO 10W40. I would not use any oil additives, select an oil that has adequate zinc and phosphorous content to provide antiwear for flat tappet cams and a suitable viscosity. There are many to choose from.

Is that the 'Z-Rod' oil that they promote ?

It is the 10W40 AMO. I believe the Z-Rod is a newer product with similar antiwear package but different viscosities.

So in another thread regarding Shell Rotella oil many rave about using Shell's Rotella diesel 15w 40. Sounds like another option I'll try in my 427 390hp.

How many friggin' times do I have to attach the oil article. This is the second time, today, and I've attached it to at least a dozen other threads in the last several years including one I started specifically to post the article.

It's the only place where you will learn WHY CJ-4 is an optimum choice both technically and econmically and why BRAND NAME DOESN'T MATTER!

We're all just looking for the quick answer and affirmation lol! However I did skim through the link (kinda like looking through a Playboy magazine trying to get to the best part) and it was very informative. Just promise me their will not be a test at the end

No test... just save the pdf and read it again when you have another engine oil question.
