Default Need help interpreting NOM block stamping

I have a ’67 convertible SB car with a non original engine block. I’m trying to figure out if the engine was transplanted from another car or was a counter exchange engine block. I ask the forum for their opinions as to what I have.

The front pad stamping is E7P25852?7C. I was expecting to see a CE prefix, but the first character visible is an E. Also below are pictures of the block casting number (3959512) and casting date (it looks like K 30 6 ==> Wednesday Nov 30, 1966).

My listing source doesn't show an application, only 250hp '62-'67. Dennis

In the end I think you will find that the "512" cast # block was never used in production. They were produced as service replacements only.

The 512 block was an over the counter replacement block for the 870. The 512 had the crankcase vent hole in the back like the 327 so the vent into the aircleaner could function as original. Some were large journal and are favored by many rebuilders for the horsepower gains they can be made to produce while keeping the 327 look.
I have one in my 64 but the pad is blank with a 73 casting date. Dave

It sounds like the prevailing opinion is that it is a counter exchange engine block which is better than a junkyard 327 from a Chevy station wagon. Thanks for clarifying. I am still wondering what the stampings mean. Does the 7 that appears in position 2 mean that it was sold as a replacement block in 1967? What do the other numbers and letters in the stamping represent?
