Default Casting Date on #3795397 Intake

I do not see any numbers on this intake except for the '3795397' part number and the numbers '172' stamped in the front, driver's side of the manifold. There is a small pad near the part number but if there were numbers there they are unreadable. Is the '172' the cast date/ Thanks for any help.

That is not the casting date. That was stamped some time since it left GM. The casting date is on the underside, under the oil shield. It is for sure not visible when installed. It is a 1962 340hp manifold.

The foundry used a Dinotape date strip.
