Default Got me a '66!!!

UPDATE: It IS a '66!
Very excited to be joining the C2 community!
An elderly friend of the family is selling their house in north Jersey.
In their garage is a 1966 Nassau Blue 427 Turbo-Jet convertible with black interior, black top, and side pipes. It's been sitting for 25+ years under a car cover and several quilts. The interior is full of collectible dolls that have been there just as long. The rest of the garage is packed wall-to-wall with junk, tools, bags of clothes, lumber, etc.
The owner of the car passed away and his sister is selling the house.
I agreed to clean out the house, cart away all the junk, and clean up the landscaping on the property in exchange for the car. All I have to do is dig it out and tow it home.
Not able to get a photo yet due to the amount of stuff in the garage, but I was able to move just enough stuff to open the hood a few inches and shine a flashlight inside. Looks cherry.
Best I can tell the car looks exactly like the one in this photo (except obviously not as shiny!).
I'll be sure to post photos when I drag her out of her cocoon!

I would say that was a good exchange of labor.

A weekend of cleaning a house and yard, and haul away junk gets you a cherry 67 BB conv that looks like above!
How stupendous is that deal?!
And, after only one month on the CF! We must have brought you incredible good luck!
Green with envy here.

(by the way, 427 emblems on fender designate a 66)

Not good under the circumstances...but a Good find...

Maybe they'll let you keep the dolls...your grand kids might like them or your wife as they might be worth some $$$...

More than a weekend, more like 5-6 weeks of work after working my regular job. it's one of THOSE houses... hoarders. Probably a grand or so just in dumping fees too. Tons of junk and about a dozen cats as well that I'll have to scrub up after. But still worth it!

You say the fender emblems mark a '66? Hm.... I'll have to look into that. Maybe they were put on.

Post the pics when you can get them.

Be sure to take pics of the car before you move it as well.

Congratulations on the car!

Wow! Owner clearly doesn't know the value. My guess is they will be backing out of that deal before it's over, but if not, congratulations on a great deal!

Time to hire a cleaning crew for $2500 and let them go to it. Supervise the operation, and mine the good stuff. And if the cats aren't feral, please place them if you can! Good luck with your adventure....I am very envious!

On my way there this weekend. The garage is first on the agenda.
Owner is deceased. Only living relative is his elderly sister. I wanted to make sure I did not take advantage of her, and I explained to her how much the car may be worth. I'd rather lose the deal and not get it than rob an old woman. The great state of NJ, on the other hand, has no problem robbing an old woman and is taking her house and property in return for Medicare costs which she could not pay for herself and her brother. The better shape the property is in, the more they can take off the bill in value. Either way, she has no use for the car and told me I am welcome to it and Glen (her brother) will be happy to know it is in good hands of someone who appreciates it.
Finding the title may be a whole 'nother issue... No idea where that may be. Haven't worked that one out yet. maybe I'll find it when I'm cleaning, but now I have to make sure I go through all the boxes of papers instead of just tossing everything.

Wow, what a deal. Check everything when going through that paper work even old books, etc. I have found old saving bonds and old paper money in my folk's books while cleaning out their home years ago. Good Luck...

It sounds like a win-win for everyone involved except of course for the poor fellow who passed away. Ya gotta post some pics of that car ASAP. We all want to see it!

WOW - what a find and great deal!

Marina Blue '67s are the best, BTW!

How closely have you looked at it? Does it in fact have the stinger hood? If the 427 emblems are on the fender it might be a '66 427 in Nassau Blue?
