Joe,
Same thing happened to me just over a year ago. Woke up from cath and was told to be back in the morning for triple bypass.
looking back I now say the worst part was when the chest hair grew back.
Welcome to the zipper club! Pulling for ya.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words, prayers and support. I am scheduled tomorrow for the procedure.
The odd thing is I feel no pain, discomfort or shortness of breath.
Friday I unloaded two pallets of oil and antifreeze at my store!
I will be back soon.
Thanks,
Joe

Best wishes on this. Medicine has gone leaps and bounds in this area in the past 20-30 years. Stepdad had a quadruple at age 65, plus 3 more heart attacks and lived another 21 years in excellent health. You'll be fine.

That definetley wasn't a good suprise but as others said, you are fortunate that they found it in time and you can get surgery for it now. And most people who undergo this procedure feel much better afterwards. I hope you make a swift and speedy recovery.
Best Wishes!

be VERY careful during recuperation on how you cough and restrain your chest in the incision area... have a serious discussion with your surgeon about how they close you back up...
in my case, the heart part was very successful but I ended up with the breast bone not fusing back together into one piece and a hernia bulge just below it... (the hernia is not in this picture)

All the best to you plaidside! Like many have said here, medical technology on this procedure has come a long way. You will recuperate quick enough, belonging to the "zippered skin" club. Prayers coming your way.

Joe, you'll be in fine shape afterward for the rest of your life and soon forget about the surgical unpleasantness. I went thru the same procedure three years ago and have had no issues since. I also had no pain, etc beforehand. BUT the Stanford Hospital MDs forgot about me once they made their money and left me on oxycontin for a month instead of two weeks, and I then had to endure drug withdrawal. Once my blood pressure was down to 76/58 and I was passing out at home they realized something must be wrong. Lesson: make sure you have an advocate (wife, friend) who watches over you during recovery and asks questions of the boil-suckers (I mean MDs ).
