I got an unwelcomed surprise today
I went in for a heart caterization (sic)this morning and was told I need a triple by-pass! They say the main artery is blocked and they call it the widow maker.
So I will be out of commision for a while.
I hope to be back soon.
Joe

Best of luck for a successful procedure and rapid, complete recovery.
They're awfully good at doing those kinds of procedures anymore.
Sounds to me like you had a fortunate discovery today - what if it had not been found "in time".

My thoughts and prayers are with you Joe. I've had three different cardio caths installing six stents. My "widow maker" was 95% blocked and required three stents. I'm sure you've been experiencing some pretty severe chest discomfort. I wish you a speedy recovery and look forward to having you back here on the forum.

Please be aggressive with moving to get surgery as soon as possible. The sooner you get it done, the quicker your body will heal and the stronger you will be at time of surgery. The Dr's may think its routine, but its in your best interest to stop evrything and make this a priority. Dont delay.
My prayers are with you for a healthy recovery!

I'm sure nothing any of us can say will make you feel better about this, but it sure beats a killer heart attack. Almost 4 years ago my wife had to go in for a heart murmur that progressively got louder. They had to put her on a heart machine, stop her heart and go in through the sternum and cut the strange growth out of her aorta. It was quite a ride, but she got through it.
All the best to you!! Men recover quicker than women with this type of surgery...upper body strength I suppose.

Joe, you are fortunate they caught that in time. I know more than one story of the big one with no second chance taking someone out. On the other hand, I know many who have gone through this who lived well into their 80's with no further heart related problems. Good luck with the procedure, you will be back to doing what you enjoy before long .

I have two friends that have had that surgery. One had a quadruple bypass. They came out of it great and enjoy good health today doing the things they enjoy. Best wishes and prayers to you. You'll do just fine! Dave
