Dash Lights Work in Park Position Only
Rebuilding with new wiring harness but old headlight switch. The headlights work. The dash lights only come on with the switch in the parking light position. No tail lights in any position. Suggestions to troubleshoot please.

If your taillight ground wires and all ground straps are connected, taillights should work. If not, suspect the switch or a open connection somewhere. How about brake lights? All bulbs good and correct?

I would think it would be problems with the switch. Make sure the connections to it are good.
Did you have problems with the lights before you put in the new harness?

Might be time to start chasing wires and measuring voltages.
I can tell you that I had a problem with the right from turn signal - new harness, rebuilt signal switch. Turned out the purple and black wires were swapped at the bulb socket. Yes I double and triple checked the connections of the inline harness connector - they were correct. The problem was at the bulb socket. Took it apart, swapped the wires and all was well again....
Not saying you have a harness problem, but I didn't find my issue until I sat down with the wiring diagram and a DVM and checked all of the connections.

Had the problem some years back and the rheostat was open. Pull the switch and check the rheostat with an ohmmeter, if it's like mine you may be able to see the open wire.

Thanks guys - The dash lights in parking light position is what had me stumped. Bought a used Delco switch at swap meet yesterday and all is good. Still have turn signal issues to work out but that will come.
