Default Flaming River Power Rack and Pinion

My 64 Coupe has the subject rack and pinion system installed. It drives and steers very nice; however,I'm changing it back to a stock power system. Will I have a hard time selling the used system and what would be a average selling price. Thanks in advance.

just curious, why are you changing it back; the R&P is a far superior system

Thanks for your interest. The car has many mods, serpentine system , seats and a custom dash. I just like the original system. It does drive and steer nice. I'm going to change it back the best I can.

thanks for the answer...

i'm going to hazard a guess as to the value of the parts you are going to remove; USUALLY used parts, unless they are rare, sell for no more than 50% of the new price (25% is what we used to pay...).

Found this steering kit online priced at $1700. So if I get around $1000 I guess I should b happy.

Is it power or manual? Either way I would think it would be an easy sell. R&P is far superior to the old linkage type and even more so, the old power assist steering set up. I bought a used Steeroids PS setup for half it's new price a few years ago and I sold the old system for almost the same amount.

Why don't you put an ad in the Forum Parts for sale section and maybe someone would trade you an original system for your R&P set up. Seems like that could work for you.

Joe, I am surprised. I thought building technologically up-to-date restomods is what you do?
What steering column to you have? Are you selling that as well?

Default Dusty Winnemucca Road

Yep,
That was me.
I'm planing a trip to see my folks in Winnemucca this winter, hopefully before Christmas. I've been contemplating changing over to a Flaming River Rack, but the cost was a little out there, I think they are about $1800.
Sounds like you are still in the tear down stage of your project. If your timing permits, then it might work out for both of us. Not sure how soon you'll be wanting to sell it..... I'm sure the second its out of the car right!

Also, anyone ever worked with these Flaming Rivers and installed with Hooker exhaust have any tips. I understand it's cramped and there might be some modifying involved.

By the way, there only two things I have ever put on my car that did not require some type of modifying/alteration.

Let me know when you think you'll be ready.
Thanks,
Ken 858-752-2882
