Re-chrome vendor
I'm replacing the windshield, and as long as the frame is apart, I should get the side posts re-chromed. I'm in Richmond Va. and looking for a plating shop with good quality, good turn around and hopefully won't break the bank. We are planing a 48 state tour, starting in the spring, so getting the parts back, timely, is my biggest priority.

Librandis out of PA is very good. http://www.carchrome.com/
I had bumpers done in a timely manner. Sent bumper ups to them and picked up from them at Carlisle.

I have had great service from Knox Chrome , in Knoxville.
If you are getting the windshield posts re-chromed you might consider doing the door posts as they might not match, from a appearance standpoint.

for Librandi's in Harrisburg. Dropped off set of C2 bumpers and stainless at Carlisle, and had it all back in about 6 weeks. I looked around and they were a little bit more expensive than the median, but not the highest. Quality is incredible.

Make that Three for Librandi's; ahead of schedule and under budget. Beautiful work!

I have not had any rechroming work done yet (by anyone), but I've been keeping my eyes open, and I have never seen a negative review on Virginia Vettes, and they're close to you.
I have no dog in their hunt.

Depends on what you're looking for...
I'm fine with the factory look and have VV rechromed bumpers on all 4 corners of both my '61 and '63...
If you want perfection then the price will be double (or more) and the turn around will be triple too.
Here are my VV rechromed bumpers for the '61 fresh out of the packaging.

I just found the plating company in Richmond, named Hanlon Plating.
They apparently specialize in re-chroming car parts. Has anyone on the forum used or heard of them?

Librandi's has excellent quality and on the high price side, but not the most expensive. Leadtime is ???? now.
I used VV last winter on a '66 I restored. Price was the lowest I've seen and quality was ok-good. Had to send some parts back because of excessive pitting even he admitted was not acceptable. Still some micro pits on the vent windows that weren't there before. Nothing you would notice >5' away.
I was going to use Hanlon for my '59 tailights to give them a try. When I spoke to them they said they would do 2 step chrome skipping the copper. I don't know if that was just for the tailights because they are difficult to do, or for all parts they do. Might want to ask them that.

I used Paul's chrome and it took about 10 weeks but they are top notch and expensive. I went with what I thought was best on the w/s posts because you have to tear apart so much to get to them, I figured pay the extra for the best.

I should explain, my experience on Harley parts is fair to good appearance, have held up well, but got a price jump at pick up. Left a bad taste.

I called them today, $175 per windshield post with 10 to 14 day turn around. I also called VV, $215 per post and 2 to 3 week turn around.

Well there have been some comments about Virginia Vettes - to wit, the chrome work is not SEMA show lustre; its more of the factory style. The luster will be different and the pieces will still have the factory dips and waves on large pieces (e.g. bumpers)...
