Default approx value of 67 vette

Im new to this forum Have owned 2 vettes in the past 72 and 89.
I am looking to buy a 67 conv 427 435 L89 clone Black with red leather int. The car was originally red but the new paint , chrome, fitment is near perfect.Black soft top frame off restoration 2 years ago. Side pipes runs good sounds like hi perf cam. Im trying to determine the approx value to buy this car. There is a big range is seems. Im thinking this should be around 125 K. Any comments will be appreciated

This is a very subjective subject, but it gets down to (1) being a clone, it is worth a fraction of a real one, and (2) it gets down to the quality of execution, and the quality of the parts used.

I am not a L89 expert here, but 125K seems steep for a clone, unless it is flawless, which would be hard to ascertain from here.

Pictures?

even a nice clone, is still a clone. Personally I would value the car under 100K ballpark

By restoration - did they do a body off, complete nuts and bolts restoration of the chassis and everything? If it's spotless underneath, engine bay, interior and outside, it will probably draw $125k or close from someone, somewhere.

If it was a body on, mostly cosmetic restoration with a road-worn chassis then I think they are dreaming at $125k and will have the car on their lot for a long time. With a clone, paint change car it will depend on the overall quality of the work.

Like said above there is some big questions yet answered. For one did they use a real 67 427 block and parts to build it? How well of a clone is it? What did the car start out as? I would say 75k is more realistic

At $125K you could buy a real verified 435 HP car. Just change the heads to a set of aluminum heads and you have an L89. Then when you want to sell reverse the head swap and sell the L71 car and the aluminum heads separately.
Do you want an L89 car or do you just love this car that happens to be an L89 clone?

if it is, it was maroon w/black interior, and was a small block car from the factory. also intake and heads are not 67 parts.

BBC Clone is no different than any small block car with a retro fit BBC...if the car is really nice, great paint, new everything, I'd say its $75K tops.

Yes, the guy probably has $125K or more in it...

I concur with what has been said so far. NO clone, no matter how well done is worth 125k IMO, 60-80k yes and that's the range mine fell in.

Yup - the manifold is a 68/69 low riser which yields less power than the 67 manifold. Despite the "no expense spared" assertion, he went the cheaper solution. Same with the repro bolt-on wheels. Also, the speedo may need to rebuilt - it shouldn't bounce like that on acceleration.

Agreed on the value - but with a limit of $75K.

Gpop,

It might be worth your time to troll ebay and watch where cars bid up to...its not always clear what they may truly sell for but you can get a feel as to what the market is doing.

Also, spend some time going through the for sale section and look for the NOM BBC cars and you will get an idea.

Best of luck...

This looks like the car I saw 2-3 years ago at the NCRS Winter regional at Old Town. The guy who owned it was from AL and he wanted $100,000. I thought the car was worth about $80,000. It was not represented as original and it has L89 heads. It was very nice and the colors had been changed.

Is that the one that was pulled from judging because of the trim tag?
