Default You just never know (another find)

Well I need to talk about something other than my good friends health issues, and thought I would share what I have found.

Last week I sold the tires off of my 66 Corvette on Craigslist. I'm pretty proud of the fact I got $100 out of tires dated 1973. Anyway, this guy lives in the BAD part of town so I would rather drop them off at his house rather than have a stranger come to mine. After I met him we had a good chat and I asked him did he know where any old Vettes are? He told me his buddy has an old one, he believed a 90. YUCK! So as I was leaving he told me he remembers as a kid a lady that would drive them to the pool in a Corvette and that she couldn't take them all the way to the pool because the side pipes would hit the speed bumps. Now we are talking! He gives me her name and said she has never moved and gave me the address. So I stopped one week ago today and there is a 1984 Vette with flat tires in the drive, but there is a garage behind there also. Then I noticed the "Hillary" sign in the yard. So after the election I figured I better stay away for a little while.

So today I stopped and this little old black lady comes to the door. I asked "do you have an old Corvette by chance?" She turns her head and says your looking at it. I smiled and said "no, I mean an OLD Corvette?" She asks me to define old? 72 or older I reply. She asks what do I think she has? So then she told me there is a 64 coupe in the garage all covered up. Just when I think my little town has ran dry of old Vette's another one shows up. Her husband passed years ago and she has a bad leg so that car hasn't been driven for quite sometime. It has been painted a maroon (with a little flake) and tan interior so I'm thinking it was either white or tan new. She is the 2nd owner and it has about 40k on it. It has a BB 67 hood, side pipes (not original of course) 327 original motor and is not FI. She asked me if I wanted to buy it and what would I give her for it? It was interesting because she seemed interested in talking, but I think her idea of the value is quite high. I told her I would need to see it first and she wanted my phone number and she put it in her flip phone and I got hers. I agreed to help her clean it up if she wants. The money scares me because she said she has been thinking about letting the 64, 84 Vettes and a GMC Typhoon truck go for $150k!!! Who knows? I have learned don't get discouraged and keep the communications going and good things happen. Just kind of crazy.

Then this afternoon I was in a neighborhood trying to track one down that does exist, but I can't find and stumbled across a 72. It turns out her husband passed and this car also sits on the sidelines, but not for sale. Then it turns out she knows my mom and dad! I really enjoy the hunt.

Yep, for some, and for you, evidently, The Hunt is a lot of fun. Seems like you're onto another one here. Good luck, and happy hunting.

I am so hoping that anyone that bought tires dated 1973 is NOT planning on driving on them.

I would also like to see photos and especially the GMC Typhoon. I owned one in the mid 90s and loved it.

Isn't this the C1/C2 section. Where does a GMC Typhoon fit in?

There is nothing cool about a GMC Jimmy

Don't worry I will get pics of both of them when she lets me. I'm thinking maybe if I sell the GMC and the 84 for her then she will cut me a deal on the 64?
