C2 ('67) Ignition converion

LOL, yeah I guess a few feathers get ruffled from time to time. There was no 'intent' on my part though ! Regardless this is nothing compared to some of the whackos I have to moderate over on a audio forum that I administer. Audiophiles (or audiofools as some call them) are some of the strangest creatures that inhabit the planet !
Understood, if your gonna do it don't do it 'half assed' !

Now, I still say that the lever and wood block (although I confess that I eventually upgraded to Corinthian leatherre dampers on the wood block...........but my horse, Sea Biscuit, nagged me about it and constantly mussed up my stall floor until I got rid of it). But, I digress..........the wood block works just fine. Stops the wagon or buggy in a flash. Probably better than Fred Flintstones feet...........but, then agin' what do a feller like me knows anywhichaways.

I ran Pertronix for literally three decades in all manner of cars - never a problem...
When my car was judged I switched to Lectric Limited's Breakerless SE as it uses the stock coil, ballast resistor and spark plug wires and is undetectable. Its hard to screw up the install (poor installation is often time the reason Pertronix units get such a bad rap.)
The only disadvantage over a Pertronix is that, unlike the Pertronix III, it does not have a rev limiter...

I just fired up the '66 big block the other day after a total rebuild and 80% restoration on the car. I have a Pertronics 1 with a stock coil and it fires instantly even when cold. One pump on the carb and the instant the starter hits it's fired up.

I installed the LL Breakerless SE three years ago and never looked back...trouble and worry free setup. You can order direct from Lectric Limited, if so desired.

I get it...............still being a puppy, you simply WISH that you were old.
But seriously, everybody, you all have no right to question Nowhere Man. He's an old sage who has years and years of experience, and uses science (circa 1955) to back it up, you young whippersnappers!
Say, Mikado................can you see now why I kiddingly called you a troll earlier?
From personal experience, I can say that freedom from maintenance is only a small portion of the benefit of modernized ignition trigger. If you go all the way by upgrading the coil and wires, you'll get the benefit of instant starts, smoother running, freedom from misfiring, and increased gas mileage.
PS Mikado, to correct something you said earlier: you DO NOT have to upgrade the coil if you use Pertronix. It's an option worth taking advantage of, although you can still use the crappy, flaccid, troublesome, weak and marginal old style coil.

Doesn't have the rev limiter of the Pertronix III, but I have a built in limiter in my right foot
Two Pertronix crapping out in "short order" has to be from some exogenous cause and a singularly rare incident, like winning the Powerball or being mauled by a black bear and polar bear on the same day (statistically equivalent chances of either).

I had a Breakerless unit for over 10 years, no problems. Had to pull distributor for a rebuild due to tach cable gear this spring so points went back in then but I will replace those with another Breakerless unit.
