$500. Reward for confirmed information which leads me to my Corvette!

I am looking for my first Corvette I special ordered from Chevrolet in 1965. I do not have a vin, but It was Nassau Blue Coupe, with a Black Leather interior. The options were 365 HP 327, 4 speed, P/S, Power Brakes, P/W, A/C, AM/FM radio, Wood Steering wheel, and Knock off Wheels. The only thing that will distinguish this car from others is that it had the 6 tail lights modification. The Corvette was last in Indianapolis Indiana at a Chevy Dealership in August of 1966.
I know it’s a long shot after all these years that it may still be out there somewhere. Someone has it or knows where it is, or have seen it, please ask around.
I can be reached at information below.
Thanks for your consideration.

Wes Mc Callum

Welcome to the CF!
You did the first step by posting here on the CF. Your second step is, do you know the vin? If so Google it.

Welcome to the Corvette Forum. If you have the Vin # go to the 1965 Corvette Registry and see if it is on there.

Thanks Bluestripe67,
There in lies the real problem which lead me to seek help from all sources I could think of.
No ....I do not have a VIN...all the records in St Louis were distroyed in a fire, and locally with out the VIN no other real help was offered. I took delivery in late April of 1965, but IN DMV needs a VIN .

Who insured the car? It's a real stretch, but maybe your local agent might have an old file. Stranger things have happened. Dennis

Do you have the license plate # from back in the day? That's a start.

Even if you find a '65 matching the color and options of your car (even finding one with 6 taillights), without the VIN you'll probably never know for sure if it is the same one. However, I do hope you're able to find it.

Mark, you are correct! but there are a couple of things that I only know about the car. If I could find a car that fits the description, then take that VIN and research it through the DMV, I might have a chance you would think. Ever the optimist!!! Wes

only made 227 365hp AC coupes, finding one of them could be hard enough, let alone the one that was yours. I wish you the best of luck as I have only seen a handful of them out there.

I have a buddy with a Red/Black 365 AC coupe, took him several years of hunting just to find that one.

Well midyear then there is hope! If there were only 227 of them, and I have eliminated the ones on the register only 220 to go! It's too bad we do not have a list of lost or distroyed cars. It maybe a pipe dream....but it's on my bucket list. Midyear..where did you pull that number from, and I don't suppose there was a listing for them?

As a sidebar, I once went looking for an airplane I had, and when I found it its condition broke my heart. The owner was not a very good steward of his things and I walked away very sad. So it goes.

Default Ncrs

If you are an NCRS member, you could put an ad in their Driveline publication seeking info on your car. There is a section just for that purpose. I don't know how successful people are, but the ads continue to be listed. Just a thought. Jerry

JW I think you will find that the DMV will not be of any help to you. It is all about not disclosing any ones name or information. All that kind of stuff is kept private and not open to the public.

Thanks Mike I know they wouldn't help without the VIN.

Good luck on your hunt. I wish there was an easy way to do this too. My first car was a 1965 Dodge Dart in 1998-99. I blew the slant 6 and sold it to some guy who drug it to Canada with the plan to use it for parts. I still regret selling that car, worst $800 I ever made. No way to find it now.

With Mike. Even WITH the VIN, the DMV will not give out info regarding the current owner (unless you have an inside connection ).

Laws were past quite some time ago to prevent giving out this information due to stalking. I do wish you the best of luck in your quest however!
