They make kits to convert an alternator to tach drive conversion kit...you'll have to figure out which way/one to go/use...

I know you needs brackets but, Worth a look...

Or you can look/check out ollllld farm equipment...as they used 'tach drive alternators back then...

Search 'TACH DRIVE ALTERNATOR' in google...

He has a 62, where the tach is only driven off the distributor.............

He needs brackets, & unless he has headers, I can't help him.

Mine is on the left (driver's) side, and I used a common set of cheap brackets available from Summit, Jegs, etc. I did have to "modify" and beef them up, and make new spacers to get them aligned correctly (and for them to stay that way).

Here is a start:

You may also try Alan Grove, since he makes a lot of brackets.

Jack,

62's all used the dist. tach drive, and I believe was the first year like that. Previously, only the FI engines used the dist driven tach (tach drive was off the rear of the generator on the carb fed engines).

I mounted mine on the right side and now that I'm adding A/C, I need to move it. Might keep that in mind.
