Default Dust Cover Removal

Planning on doing some refurb on the rear drive line. Dust shields on the stub axles, do they press off and new ones press on or what?

I have not noticed those separately available and I think they are more than pressed on, but not sure. But - bump to the top in case someone knows.

I'm sure these are separate items, assembled for installation as the shaft is likely an alloy that is machined and the deflector is stamped steel. I've purchased them from ZIP. From the looks of them, they would be pressed on, but may be welded or.......

You are already well ahead of me on this. My experience so far is that the hardened tip wears down long before the shield rusts away.

Understood! Don't think I'm there yet. Just trying to pretty-up before installing. Just surface rust. Figured if these slip on, would be better than refinishing.

Update, the shields on the stub axles are pressed (and rusted) onto the stub axle. Knock off the old ones, clean up the shaft and tap on the new ones. Fairly easy.
