Default L76 Oil Pan?

Curious if this is the large capacity oil pan. I searched and couldn't find pictures of the L76 pan.

Thanks for the info guys! Just trying to piece together if I really have an L76 engine or not. Some pieces are missing, others are there.

Patrick;

I was able to ascertain that my '65, with a NOM engine was most likely an L76. Part of that was the parts on the non-original engine were likely original to the car, and transferred to the new engine.

The front damper and idler pulley and double belts are one clue, as are the 2 1/2 exhaust manifolds, the water pump with the 90 degree hose tab the top going into an aluminum (winters) manifold.

a better way to check is to drain the oil and add until the dip stick says full

If that isn't a midyear SBC, SHP, six quart oil pan, I don't know what is.

Isn't five quarts in the pan and one quart in the filter for a six quart system?

You're both saying the same thing. It is called the six quart pan, even though you're right that one quart is in the filter, because it takes six quarts from empty for a full refill.

That takes a lot of extra typing to say it that way. Just say six quart and you have it covered.
