Default 66 Small Block Radiator Choice

I'm building a 383 for my 66.

I really WANT this radiator: $659.99

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/dwr-1149063m

But maybe I only NEED this radiator: $251.79

http://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo....322132&jsn=422

It all comes down to how big a fight I have to have with my wife.

Any coercive opinions?

You're trying to provide her with too much information. Say it this way:

"I finally found a radiator for the 66, those things are aluminum and cost almost a thousand dollars. Summit has it on sale for $650, I'd better go ahead and order."

The Dewitt's cost more for a reason.

You're correct in WANTING the DeWitts radiator for your car! . . . simply the very best, correct radiator for your car. You may want to wait a few weeks - DeWitts has their annual sale for Forum members coming up soon - you may be able to save buying it directly from Tom DeWitt in early January! I'll be ordering one myself!

That same radiator is $589 on Dewitts webpage. Wait until they have the New Years sale at the end of this month.

Put your foot down, tell who wears the pants in this family and buy it...

Prior too the demand, get your sleeping bag, cot, heater and put it in the garage...

Just in case she says NO!!..

If you can go to the NCRS Winter meet in FL (Lakeland) it may be cheaper there also. They usually give a discount at the events. It is near the end on Jan.

The Chevrolet engineers developed a costly aluminum radiator back in the day as it was the only design that could reject enough heat. A same size copper/brass unit doesn't work as well and you will be very disappointed in the results in my opinion.

1149063M 2.75" core
1139063M 2.25" core

I have this same radiator that I used for 3 years then, replaced it with an original type DeWitts "stack plate" about 2 years ago. It's just been sitting (I plugged all openings) in my shed ever since. It's in very good condition and would let you have it pretty cheap if you'll pay shipping.

Here's a couple of pics. PM me if interested. Might make the wife a lot happier too!

Gary

Backside

Frontside The black stuff on top is just some self adhesive backed foam that will come off easily and the stuff in the fins are bugs, no extra charge.

The only one to consider is a DeWitts radiator. End of conversation.

That would be dishonest.

Okay, I'll do it.

I considered that, but remember reading about sexless marriages and it wasn't good.

That's kinda why I'm asking.... the 383 is going to be high compression.

My 61 has a 383 stroker in it with 10.25:1 compression. The Dewitt's aluminum radiator keeps it nice and cool. Also have them in my other, stock cars. Best radiators in the industry. Do it once and do it right. You will be glad you did.

I used one of these from ZIP for my mildly built 355 in my 65. Made by DeWitts and worked great!

Which radiator comes up regularly in the C1, C2, C3, and C4 discussions. Are there other choices? Of course. Are their radiators that are less money? Sure. There's a reason why the overwhelming majority of responses recommend Dewitt's. You get what you pay for, they work and they fit.
