Plasticman, thanks for the update on the key, the clutch linkage was warn and I replaced it last week , the holes were worn to about double the size. based on that it would make sense that the shifter linkage and bushings are all warn out as well

Check to see if your clutch isn't stuck on the flywheel. Was the car sitting for a long time before you tried it? Once in a while my car will do that exact thing. You have to put it in reverse or first depending on which way you can go and start it in gear....this usually will make the car lurch in that direction and within a second or two the clutch will free up. Just make sure the way is clear....
It's worth a try anyway, especially if there was no indication of anything wrong before.

And yes, the Hurst metal bushing Pit Pack is not needed for a street driven car, the nylon bushings work just fine...

Agree with checking the shifter first.
I had a Muncie that welded third gear to the main shaft, but if that were it, the car would move with the engine running, clutch engaged, and the trans in neutral. It would still roll with the clutch disengaged, but the engine would die if you put it in any gear other than 3rd and engaged the clutch. Don't think that is your problem, but something to consider if the shifter is not the problem.

66Jack, thanks for the advise, the levers had to moved to vertical , the back lever was off , once I moved them both to vertical the car shifted and moved forward with no issues

Now, If i were you i'd adjust the shifter/levers/rods to take out the slop...and put in new bushings...
