Every time I drove inside the corvette it sounded like rod knock. Driver side exhaust keeps touching the X on the frame.
Three times I kept dealing with it.
I would loosen up the exhaust, set the clearance and tighten it down. Then take a small drive within 10 minutes it would rub once more.
Finally I figured out what I needed to do:
Loosen up the exhaust.
Shoved a wrench between two the two contact points.
Then cranked it down with the two wrenches to set the space.
Remove the wrenches.
Drove for about 10 minutes... No more rod knock!
This little problem was driving me nuts!

Its sooooo nice to get off cheap once in a while.
I thought I was in for a posi rebuild on the '63 but a fluid change and two bottles of friction modifier and some figure-8s cleared things right up.
NOTE TO SELF: If you want to draw a crowd do some aggressive figure-8s in a CVS parking lot in a split window!
