C-2 Upgrades
I would really like to hear some of the upgrades or upgrades you would like to do on your C-2 to enhance the everyday or weekend driving of it?
I'm thinking of upgrades that can be reversed if required.

That's a loaded question. My only thing I will add is radial tires. That is everything I need to enjoy a old car

Well, I'll break from the current responses and let you know what I have done to my '66 L79 over the years. Tremec 5 speed trans, Steeroids rack & pinion steering, Bilstein shocks, Torque Thrust wheels, composite rear spring, aftermarket stereo and speakers, Quickfuel carb and yes, even radial tires.
I'm still not happy with the stereo, but just bought the Rockford Fosgate PMX-2 marine radio that dcagianni installed.

What I did: Radial tires, Pertronix, and an auxiliary radio connection for my i-phone.
If I had the budget: I might add rack-and-pinion steering as long as it was reversible.

Robb - been meaning to write you - how's the 66 doing? Still pleased with the purchase?
For improvements - I've been running Sears HD shocks since I rebuilt it and they are feeling soft. I'm planning to look into an alternative - maybe Bilsteins.

Oops, forgot about the pertronix in mine too and the smaller steering wheel. Yes, the rack and pinion was bolt on and reversible. In fact, everything I have done to my car is reversible. My requirement has always been for anything I add or change, there will be no cutting, drilling or welding involved with the installation. And I always keep any parts I removed. The only exception to this was the Muncie 4 speed trans, which came out of a '69 or '70 Firebird so I sold it.

Upgrades
When I was young, I drove my 68 coupe with no power nothing all over the northeast. I still have the car. That said, for my 66 coupe, I added a 5 speed, Vintage Air, power steering, power brakes and a stereo radio and leather seats. For the suspension, I added Bilstein shocks, mono leaf glass spring and touring springs up front. It's your car, do what makes you happy. Jerry

The only thing modern on my car is the radial tires. I drive it all over the southeast to various shows and have won several best original awards.
I drive my C7 when I want modern things.

Split window:
Radial tires, Breakerless SE ignition conversion, Vintage Air A/C, wireless back up camera and original radio gutted and converted to solid-state with bluetooth, Hurst Super Competition shifter. LED parking and tail lights!

Burning Brakes
The basics on a stock Corvette
1. Upgrade the wiring - perhaps a newer alternator to handle more "stuff"
2. LED lighting front and back (safety)
3. Vintage Air (comfort)
4. Upgrade the stereo (lots of choices in this category)
5. Three-point seat belts !!
6. Disk Brake upgrade for 63 and 64 models and perhaps an upgrade to more modern for later models
7. Upgrade the stock suspension with new bushings OR upgrade to 3rd party options
8. 5 or 6 speed tranny is a killer option
9. Master battery disconnect
10. Upgrade the radiator and never worry about overheating again!

Tremec 5speed, 350 crate with quick fuel carb, ridetech rear suspension with coil overs, killer after market stereo, new custom leather interior with electric windows and door locks, new stering wheel. This years projest is putting the ridetech front suspension and Borgeson box. Thinking of going EFI and new side pipes for better flow. Every winter I like to do a little so in the spring I get a new surprise

The one and only thing I changed on my 67 Coupe is I took off the oil canister and added an adapter so I can use a screw on oil filter. Yes I kept the canister. Every thing else I do not want to change a thing. These C2 car are the best that GM ever made. I would not trade my 67 for a 16 or 17. I am in the process of new seat covers and carpet. Nothing is wrong with the seat covers but the driver side does show a little wear and the carper is great but faded. I guess I could dye the carpet but with the seats out why not just replace it with new. It will still look all original and with only 15380 mls. it should look original

Originality
I have to chuckle when some are so concerned with originality or ability to return to such. The "upgrades" are to bring these cars to acceptable comfort and drivability we are accustom to. The Market for original cars is safe, but i think will remain flat as B boomers die off . If I sell my house' I will be sure to reinstall the original rotary phone, so as to get top dollar offers during the open house !

Advanced
upgrades
I've done several upgrades on my '66 convert., 496 BB, M22 trans, leather seats, radial tires on 7" GM wheels, but my favorite is the Detriot Speed headlight motors and wiring. Great and simple conversion, pull the switch, they pop open and come on, push it in, they go off and close.
Great product. Good luck, HD

The only disappointment I have is that I didn't do it sooner ; ). With less than a full year under my belt of owning the car the only issue that came up was having to replace the gas tank after finding silicone floating around from a less than professional install. Needless to say the silicone found its way to the carb which made me take the preventative measure of doing a rebuild and the rest is history. With that behind me it was full speed ahead and I couldn't get enough of driving her. No trailer queen here!
The car is now parked for the winter which accounts for the post. Trying to figure out what projects to take on so that I can even enjoy it more next year! Truth be told I'd love to do the 5 Speed swap for ease of highway driving but after researching it the job seems pretty complex and co$tly?
