C1 of Year Finalist (track prepared) 2019
2015 C1 of the Year Finalist
My little street cruiser....
I like to go drag racing.....ran high 9's@143 when it was naturally aspirated. I've added twin turbo's now...planning to attack dragstrip next month to shoot into the 8's if I'm lucky.
Took it to a half-mile event on a runway...ran 177 MPH on low boost and limited traction. Heading to the TX Mile in March to see if I can squeak past 200 MPH.

That's an impressive ride and looks great.

This is a friend of mine, Larry Martin, in the staging lanes at Orange County International Raceway, in 1972.
A couple years later he let me run it. This was the first race car I ever drove at the age of 17.
I replaced it with this in the late 1970's early 1980's.
And finally this before I quit a few years ago.

Can't let C2s be the only cars in this thread, although you guys' cars look really great! I admire you for still using them as intended.
Mikelj, I really like your blue streaks! I have several pictures of my car wearing them from the '60s. Do you like them? Mind saying where you got them?
My '57 won 50 trophies road racing and drag racing 1957 through about 1967. Someday when the original engine is fresh again I'll rent some track time...

None of these Corvettes are officially mine. I have spent many years crewing on all of them though, at race tracks all over the Country, so I do claim some "ownership" of them.
The white number 70 was raced by a friend of mine from 81 to 84. He had autocrossed a 69 for about three years, winning a couple SCCA BP Solo Championships, before he decided to try SCCA road racing. He won a number of SCCA Regional and National poles and races with it, as well as a multiple Regional Championships and even entered it in one Trans-Am race. It was replaced by a tube frame Camaro in 85, when we went Trans-Am racing full time.
The red 65 and the yellow 69 are the two vintage racing Corvettes that I have been crewing on the last few years. The 65 has race history going back to about 1970, and was raced at all the major eastern tracks, including Watkins Glen, Bridgehampton, Lime Rock, Bryar, etc. The 69 has no real race history, having only been built a few years ago, by someone who wanted to go vintage racing. Since acquiring it early this year, it's been raced three times, scoring a GT-1 class win the last time out, at an SCCA Regional race.
Currently, the 63 below is being restored for vintage racing. This car had been a race car almost from the day it was new. A few years ago, it was purchased by someone who decided to put it on the street. After an evening of bad decisions, the car was run into a tree, totaling it. Because of it's considerable race history, and documentation, it was decided that it was worth restoring. The plan is to restore it back to how it looked when raced in the early 60's. The only issue is that all of the old pictures of it are black and white, making it a little difficult to determine what the original colors were.
The blue 66 coupe, the blue 64 roadster and the black 65 big block below, are all cars we've vintage raced in the past. All three have significant race history, including the 64 that was previously raced by Doug Rippie.
The link below is to a post in the C3 General Section, that was started back in 07, featuring pages of old race car pictures. Unfortunately, a lot of the pictures have been deleted, but many remain.

Thanks, Loren!
They're 215-70 Dunlaps on standard 6 inch GM steel wheels. No spacers. Only very minor rubbing on the inner fender on tight turns up onto driveways, which I seldom do. They've been on there for almost 5 years. Probably have to replace them in the next few years.
Lots more pictures and info on my car on my profile page.

My buddies Corvette-bodied Super Gas roadster. Not a real Corvette, but a gorgeous race car. The pictures don't do it justice.

It's refreshing seeing a few more of our antiques out there mixing it up on the track rather than parked in a sea of lawn chairs and coolers.

Thanks for the kind words gentlemen. My wife of 44 years was diagnosed 6 years ago with Alzheimer's disease. She is my top priority in life and I care for her 24 / 7. It is difficult, if not impossible, to be away from her for more than just a couple of hours. I am blessed to have 3 old Corvettes and my enjoyment of the cars consists of "tinkering" with them as I can and occasionally driving them for a couple of miles and returning home, putting them in the garage and wiping the dust off. Sorry but that's the best I can do. My wife takes priority over EVERYTHING else. Blessed as I am to have these Corvettes, and several others over the past 50 years, I am even more blessed to have met and married my wife 44 years ago.
