Thanks for the responses, I'm not trying to pull a fast one, or trying to make the car sound or look better than it is which I'm sure happens a lot, I am just the new guy that is learning something new about the car everyday. thanks again and this won't be the last time you here from me.
Keep asking yourself, how would Dad have done this. It will make every effort feel as if he were watching over you... to see that you're doing it correctly of course!

Taking a hint off one of your earlier threads and seeing what looks like chrome valve covers on your engine, you very well may have a 427 engine in that car. Long shot but check it out.
I would resist the urge to take that car to shop until you understand what you have.

According to Noland Adams' Corvette Restoration Guide '63-'67, some early 396 Corvettes used chrome valve covers. If your VIN is 13000-14000 don't assume they're not correct.
