Can anyone tell me who the manufacturer is that reproduce the 1967 Goodyear redline tires. 7.75x15. Thanks jjj
Goodyear Powercushion bias tires sold by Kelsey Tire are essentially identical to originals except for the DOT logo. They ride and judge the best of the reproductions. The Goodyear reproduction tires are licensed by Goodyear but are actually manufactured for Kelsey by Specialty Tires of America, located in Indiana, PA (formerly McCreary Tire & Rubber Co.).
I bought a set of five this past summer and have been very happy with them. I really like the retro look of bias-ply tires.
I know Kelsey tires sells them but I called specially tire and they do not produce car tires. Jimmy
Call Kelsey Tire and talk to John Kelsey. He will tell you who makes them for him. It's my understanding he (Kelsey) holds the license from Goodyear, so Specialty can't sell them directly.
The DOT stamp on my tires have a plant code (first two digits) of "CY" - which you'll find still listed as McCreary Tire & Rubber Company, Indiana Pennsylvania in the NHTSA database (https://vpic.nhtsa.dot.gov/mid/).
Where the Goodyear Powercushions used in 65 and 66 ? It seems most 65's I've seen had BF Goodrich.
GM (Chevrolet) bought tires from a number of manufactures in the '60's, including Goodyear and Goodrich. From the information on the Kelsey Tire website, Goodyear Power Cushions were used on 1965 through 1967 midyears. Here are the specific applications:
The 31/32” w/w used exclusively on the 1965 cars.
The 5/8” w/w used for both 1966 and 1967 cars.
The G/S or gold stripe used for 1965 and 1966 cars.
The R/S or red stripe used specifically for the 1967 cars.
The BLK is applicable to all ’65 thru ’67 cars.
