Are these RARE 1962 valve covers?????
I was told my an older car guy that restores valve covers that these were only available in 1962 on 327's. Does anybody know if this is true and what there value would be?

Used just about on any SB in a pass car, IIRC.
They aren't factory color.
They are harder to come by now, then they were 40 years ago, though.

IIRC, the narrow-triangle stamping was used for less production time than the wide triangle version, so these are needed for a low HP early SBC.
However, they hardly qualify as rare or worth a lot of money.

Not any small blocks, only 327's. 62-67 283's used the same basic Chevrolet script valve covers, as the 61 base Corvette 283.
The triangle Rhino's referring too, was stamped into the center of the valve covers, at each end of the center rectangle. So as where the 62-early 63 stamped steel covers have a flat end on the center rectangle, the later 327 covers have a triangle on each end of the rectangle, that tappers about a half or three quarter inch, into the V portion of the valve cover.
The 62-63E covers used a different 327 badge than the later covers also. The 62 covers used an embossed aluminum plate, with the 3-2-7 raised above the surface of the plate. The later covers used a smooth, foil label.
The 62 covers can bring a little more than the later covers, but not a huge amount.

Here's the "triangle" version.
Note the triangle areas of the casting leading up to the plateau where the decal would be mounted.

I have several SB engines (from 383 to 420). NONE of them have stamped steel valve covers (they're just plain blah). Thus, they have zero value for Tom Parsons. My all time favorite SB valve cover is the common finned alum versions with Corvette script. Although, on some engines, it's been necessary to use the 69-later finned versions.

Many of you will recognize these as passenger car L79 covers. Very nice repros.

You might get a flag thrown for "posting a for sale thread" here, but worse, no one looking for your covers will look for them here.
Post a "62 to early '63 original stamped steel valve covers for sale" in the for sale forum with pictures, and check back from time to time check on it.
They don't sell, or come up for sale, very often, but people will go onto that forum and do parts searches, and your add will pop up.

I sold my "small triangle" 62/early 63 stamped valve covers on here to a forum member a few weeks ago; originals not repros; for something like $145 IIRC. They won't make you rich but I'd rather pass them on to somebody doing an original-style restoration than have them gathering dust in the garage...
