Nice to see and hear from fellow Rally Red lovers. Just awesome '65 Rat and others. I never get tired of seeing people stop dead in their tracks when we stop somewhere. It's mostly the car, but quite a bit of credit goes to the red. Cheers

My 65 FI coupe is painted the Rally Red using PPG base/clear. No orange to it, but if you see if right after it's sprayed you may think it was bright orange. After cured its red, but had some anxiety when it was first sprayed but its red, and once wet sanded and buffed the red is amazing!

Obviously you can do as you wish. But I know if your Corvette were in my shop..I would paint all panels the same day.
If you are wanting to check the paint and not using the spray out cards I mentioned...he can paint something else so you can see the color...which is what I do so the owner can verify the color is right so I have NO SURPRISES when they come to pick it up and say it is not the right color...becasue I have the signed test panel that matches the car.
Not saying that you would do that...but having reference of the approved color is always wise for both parties concerned.

BTW, wish your shop was close by....I know who I would trust to paint it!!!

Thanks everyone for the pictures. I'm going with Rally Red, but as DUB stated, I need to get the painter to paint something so I can see what it looks like. If I'm not happy, then it's just a few $$$ versus a new paint job!!!
Thanks again,
Dex.

Initially it was a Cessna 180 but moved on to a Beech V35A that's turbo normalized for the higher speed and comfort. The 180 was fun but the Bonanza is like going from a Chevette to a Mercedes, huge difference.
The photo of my 65 was under high intensity halide lighting in the hangar, gave it difference look. Outside in the sun it's very red.

when I do major paint jobs..I get the test panels all done and worked out a long time before it is going to be painted so the customer can take the panels with them and MAKE SURE that they LOVE IT. If it takes them a month to make decision...no big deal...because I want to only have to paint it ONCE.
Any and all test paint that is NOT being used is all mixed together and used as ground coat so it is not wasted....as long as I keep the color well within the final color shade. It can be used to trim out the inside of the doors and so on.

Wow, that looks totally outstanding.
More pictures would equal more drool on more computer keyboards.
Are you happy with the painter's results? Is it wet sanded and/or buffed (still learning here).
Did I mention that it looks great?
