Do the front exhaust shields provided any protection from heat, 1963

Default Do the front exhaust shields provided any protection from heat, 1963
I've just installed the shields and looking at them, it looks like just another source of heat to come into the car. What do you think.

If installed correctly they have an air gap from the pipes and reflect heat away from the fiberglass. The rear shields prob did nothing as they were dropped in later years.

if anyone is interested in a non-metal heat shield, this is what i am using on my 62.

Ask my wife still have burn marks on her right ankle from 1992 on our 67 side pipe corvette
She will never let me live that one down .
Covers were not installed coming back from paint shop.
