Great point, Jerry. Dalton said "learn to drive it sideways, then you'll see what it can do!"
It's difficult to imagine what it would cost to transport it to Monterey and then race it, but that would be the ultimate. I might start at Brainerd, which is nearby, within a year or two assuming it doesn't negate my life insurance. The original engine needs another overhaul, and I have a friend that's a pro who can do it, maybe next winter.

The trip to Beverly Hills to pick up all of those race trophies that the original owner won with my car is back on for this Thursday. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this time it actually happens!

Dick and Dalton were friends for many years. They both signed my copy of Dick's book when we had lunch with Phil that day.

Success! Here are all of the 51 trophies won with my car 1957-1967 by the first and second owners. SCCA and Cal Club events in Southern California. The trophies are pretty dirty and a few are a little corroded, but they're all with the car for the first time ever. The first owner kept his trophies, and now that he's gone his son let me have the trophies because "they belong with the car". Super cool guy. Thanks, Hall. A few additional trophies were lost or withheld by sore loser car clubs when their cars were all beaten by a really good driver with this car. Thanks also to CF member Boyan and Phil Roche. 65hihp, wish we could have gotten together while I was there.

yes Todd,
I really wanted to make it to your get together with the So CAL boys.
But of course life got in the way.
You have a great car with a passel full of trophies to prove it!
Maybe our paths will cross somewhere down the road.

I probably post a bit too often about my '57 racer, but what is about to happen is so exciting to me that I just can't keep my mouth shut.
43 race trophies that the original owner of my car (who died in 2014) won with it 1957-'60 are still in his house in Beverly Hills. He won the trophies in Cal Club and SCCA events at tracks all over Southern California. He won at least one additional trophy that the Porsche Club wouldn't give him, after he beat all of the Porsches at a weekend event. Anyway, his son inherited the trophies, and he says the trophies belong with the car. He only asked that I travel there to help him pack them up.
The second owner (I'm the third) drag raced it through about 1968, and I have 6 trophies that he won, though I suspect several were lost over the years.
So for the first time ever the car will be in the presence of most of the trophies that it won. Can't wait for Thursday!
The original owner, Dalton Danon and me with the trophies in Beverly Hills the day after I bought the car in 2012.
