Default Reconstruction of Body Dot on 63 Corvette

Had my corvette sanded down and never knew about the dot on the top surround I want to know how many slots from either end to be sure.
Pretty sure I found it the pictures I have done show how far from either end . This would on top lip below grills on the 63 .
To reconstruct it I could add a dot of original paint .
If I knew this earlier I could of told the painter.

How does one even go about reconstructing a dot?
Does this mean there are faked dots out there previously unknown to us?
I looked at the one on my 66 with a mag glass after reading this . How can someone tell if original?

This is the last thing I need to do some guy tried to talk my corvette down at a show making a big deal.
I walked over to his fake Cobra
and well should I say more. Shake up the paint let a drop fall right where the dot is and let it rip.

You can tell its that time of year where you cant do much outside and
finding things on a restoration that could be done . Just to be doing smoothing to keep busy.

a drop of paint won't do it. It will just run out flat. Needs to be resin, and then if you make it too big, and or put it in the wrong spot it will stand out like a sore thumb, and scream "I'm fake!"

Not "Fake". "Restored to near original condition".

I bet the Chinese bumps will be coming off the ship soon.

Don't feel bad, I'm restoring an original oil filter canister I don't really need; just putzing around the garage....

I think about my 'honey do' list and how I should get started on that...then I think, "Naw"...

If you're REALLY bored then instead of re-creating the dot with resin or paint...disassemble the car and take a small punch and tap upwards in the spot lightly -- then reassemble.

That should cure the boredom

Frankie, you disappoint me! You failed to add the importance of home-building a rotisserie so that you can invert the car and punch that from the bottom (now the top) more correctly. 😀

The dot came from a small depression or flaw in the tooling.
