Default All set for Barrett-Jackson

Never sent a car to auction prior to this time. All set for sending our '67 to Barrett-Jackson next month. ( Already posted as Lot 1600 slated for Sunday prime time. ) Should be fun and hoping for a great outcome.

Were you able to set a reserve on the car? I know some cars you can and some they will not let you. Good luck.

Hope you get $1M, then I may be able to sell my NM small block for $50K.
Good Luck.

Barrett Jackson Scottsdale is a blast, especially when you have a car consigned. Enjoy the show!!!

While you are in town, be sure and visit the other major auctions, Russo & Steele is 10 minutes away at Talking Stick, RM is at the Biltmore, Gooding is at Scottsdale Fashion Square, and Bonhams is at Kierland Westin. You can see more fabulous cars in 1 week in Scottsdale, than anywhere else on the planet.

And of course, join us at the Pavilion on Saturday for the greatest and longest running cruise-in in the country. Probably 1000 cars show up throughout the day from early morning until well into the night. It is right next door to Russo and Steele's new auction site this year.

Thank you gentlemen! I've attended Barrett Jackson Scottsdale before, but never consigned a vehicle. They have been great to deal with so far. I asked early on to please put me later in the auction and am very pleased with Sunday Afternoon time slot. No reserve is the only route available for cars not anticipated to sell at incredible prices. ( Matching numbers restored small block coupe in my case. ) I'm fairly confident this will work out since the documentation going with the car is solid.

with the a no reserve and numbets matching, you should be into the mid $30k's!

Surely you jest. A restored 67 in the $30K range - maybe times 2.....

Yes, in jest. If u can get into a prime slot, it should go for 15-20% more than fair market value!

Not to pop your bubble but no time on Sunday is prime time. Most of the big money leaves after Saturday night. Just noticed only 3 cars are entered for Sunday's docket.

Good luck.

unfortunately, I agree. That place clears out after Saturday. I'm not sure how they talked you into Sunday, but I'd try to get it moved. Thursday is even far better!!!
my fingers are crossed for you, but if you sell on Sunday, you are going to need some serious good luck to even get fair market value.

Yea, I have observed this at the auctions in Monterey.

Come Sunday, the high rollers are nursing their hangovers and facing the shock of what they purchased, while in an alcohol induced frenzy trying to impress their friends!

And yet some people are soooo impressed that alcohol is abundant at many of the auctions! LOL!!

Smart on the auctions part!

But then there are others who are purely professionals of the vehicle market and make some pretty good purchases. I sure wish I could master that, but I'm not going to try to fool myself into thinking so!

Hope the OP can get his car moved to a previous day.

Pat

Yup, just like free drinks at the casinos. The more impaired the judgement of the customers, the better it is for the house.

All input appreciated. I've been there on weekdays as well as weekends. I was more concerned with an "afternoon" time than Thursday versus Sunday. ( Morning's starting at 10:00am are not peak selling times from what I observed. ) And I certainly did not want an assigned slot during the first two or three days of the auction. I'm having the vehicle shipped in time for auction preview days. It will sell for whatever the market dictates at the time it goes up there. And I'm experienced with having sold both a great C-4 and my former 66 Shelby GT350 the traditional way with buyers and lookers coming to my premises for rides, etc. ( I earned the prices I obtained in both cases and frankly don't need the hassle these days. ) Once again, thank you.

Were you happy with the outcome? You did better than I thought you would for a Sunday.

They did what they promised to do and although there were 3 active bidders on the car, it came up about $5k short of what I expected. The eventual buyer who is a heck of a nice guy with a collection in Oregon told me in the staging lanes he would be going to $60k plus commission. My problem, ( his good fortune ) was that the other two guys finished at $55K plus commission. This works. I have been spending $300 per month for secure storage since my wife and myself retired and moved to our urban condo after leasing out the house where I had plenty of garage space. It was simply time to move on. Thanks for your inquiry.
