If you want to race your corvette you might just pay for it. Click on link and scroll down to video.

Quit racing and sold the car. Neither of the kids finished college.
Wish I had kept the cars and sold the kids.

Wait let me get this right. They rolled right through the waterbox then proceeded to race down the track. That video has to be the dumbest thing I have ever seen at the track. There doesn't appear to be much water there however the driver has more money than driving ability.

His problem wasn't racing.
His problem was deciding that felony insurance fraud was a good idea.
I dealt with a lot of these idiots over the years. They think white collar crime is a joke until they are being booked.

This has been going on since I got my driver's license in the '60s; every kid in the muscle car era knew if you were caught drag racing, on the street, or in a sanctioned event your insurance wouldn't cover it and most had sneaked on to Mom and Dad's policy as a 10% driver (remember that loophole?), so the whole family would lose their insurance. The rumor was that the big companies had agents at the race tracks snapping photos of the event for later use in insurance fraud cases.

He could have simply purchased an on-track insurance policy.

When I had my Z06 there were rumors on the Z06 boards that when people had major engine failures GM would check the OnStar GPS on top of the car computers to see where the failure occurred and if it was at a track they would deny the repair.

Right in the Owner's Manual on my 2013 Tundra it tells you that there is a 30 second continuous loop of driving parameters kept in the on-board computer and that can be retrieved at the request of law enforcement... Speed, acceleration, braking, you-name-it....

Well if you are going to race your Vette or any other car or motorcycle you need to call Adam at the NCM and get Racing insurance. It would be cheaper to pay that them paying to fix that Vette or maybe a hospital bill if that dumb azz would have gotten hurt.

The cars were built for that and it even tell you in the owners manual how to set the traction controls for drag racing and road racing.

Was this in Florida? Sounds like something only a Floridian might do...
Darn it! Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park - Arizona
Kidding aside, a very stupid thing to do. Though, I would like to take my corvette through a road course driving school. Maybe just build a 24 hours of lemons car instead.

They started racing right off the ingress to the track.
They didn't stage or anything, and were well at speed going past the Christmas tree.
I am curious what caused the car to start to go sideways halfway down the track.
It isn't even a supercharged Z06, just a reg'lar low HP Stingray, unless it has been modified.

If you listen to the Video you will hear the Vette hit the Rev Limiter and then shift. When the car shifts that is when it starts to slide and go sideways. You can not fix Stupid.

We had a death during a street race in my town last year, two Rice Rockets. Loss of control and a driver killed. Wish these kids would take their cars to the drag race track or road race track where someone could teach how to drive.

I've never seen a 'rolling start' like this at a drag strip.. Odd.
He probably had the traction control disabled.. and spun one tire on the shift. TC probably would have saved him.
Could have easily spun the other way and taken out the guy on the bike.... if he wasn't way past him at the time..
