Fantomworks 63 Split Window Hardtop
Anyone have any idea about the price?
I Googled it... can't find anything. LOTS of articles and videos about it, but nothing about cost.
TIA

Its mostly myth Chuck....at one point when the show first started Dan Short was around $7,500 for the top. I was literally sitting 4' from Mike Coletta when he called Fantomworks personally a couple months back and asked about the top.
They are a LONG way from prime time and the statement was that there were still working through issues with the very first one they made. It was over-hyped and I wouldn't count on seeing production-line versions for a LONG time (if ever) and there was still issues sourcing the rear stainless...
You could easily call them up and see if there answers have changed but I doubt it.

Thanks, Frank.
I was just curious. Didn't know it had not made it into production yet.
I thought it was a done deal.
I took a WAG that it would cost about $10,000 for one if/when they go into production.
In the meantime, us convertible owners can just put a strip of duct tape down the convertible top rear window.

Just tape a red stripe vertically down your rear view mirror....
At our age you won't know you're not in a split window when driving...
But you think if they can do this; a split window faux top wouldn't be that tough!

Yes, that's impressive fabrication on that Mustang...
Wonder what the demand would be for the Fantomworks top? I certainly wouldn't buy one.
I had a hardtop for my 63 back in the mid 80's---early 90's. I restored it, painted it, etc.
Had it on my car maybe twice...... then sold it. Got tired of tripping over it in the garage.
Had a hardtop with my 69 too. Used it when I bought the car, moved it to Florida, and when I sold it.
AND I had a Plasticon hardtop with my 54... that I never used.
Useless accessories IMHO.

I was glad my '61 buyer wanted the hardtop...it was going to become a petunia planter if not. I'd bet there are some well-heeled restomod guy that would pay for a removable split window and not think twice about it. What's another $10K when you are 'all in' at $150K for a high-end restomod... Like you - I wouldn't pay it...

But I have a BLACK convertible top. Wouldn't a black stripe be more appropriate?

Us "non AC" guys don't appreciate your struggle, Bill.
I "guessed" 10K...
12.5K is a lot of $$$

I don't think the price matters...there is $6K in an old thread, I heard $7,500 at one time...somebody said $10K and another $12,500. There are none to buy anyway....so the price could be $50 or $50,000...

Many of us know that you're a "jet setter" with a multi-million dollar portfolio, Frank.
You hang out with the glitterati of Hollywood, the movers and shakers of industry, and routinely fly to Europe for weekend getaways.
However, the proles here on the Forum, the poor retired pensioners on a fixed income are always conscious about price.

I'm just a humble old farm boy that came out of Virginia Beach with mud on my shoes...
Ha!
My point is that the price is not relevant (IMO) on a non-existent product...(and I'm as tight fisted with my money as most here are)
I think when Dan built that first top he thought he had the numbers close; he found some rear window stainless somewhere, built the top, and thought it wasn't that hard a task.
When I toured his facility in Norfolk last year and spoke with him the rear stainless was a big issue. He started talking about it and his office girl "shushed" him as there was some pending fabricator willing to make it but details were sketchy.
My theory is that he found out that getting the rear stainless procured was a major expense and that the price for these conversions would jump up accordingly. I think the stainless gave Dan sticker-shock and he's savvy enough to know the price jump would limit the appeal and it was not going to be a money-maker.
Ha!

I can imagine that the rear SS might be a deal breaker.
To go a step further, I can't imagine much of a market for this top under any circumstances.... regardless of price.
