40+ years ago I was a young Lieutenant with the 3d Battalion, 8th Marines. Our Unit call sign was "GUSTO". The FAC's call sign was GUSTO14 (gusto-one-four) A few years later I was a Formation Flight Instructor in the Training Command. By that time, most aviators have "earned" a call sign, but I didn't have one so I was ordered to have one by "tomorrow" or they would give me one.

The only thing I could come up with that and wasn't already claimed was GUSTO and it stuck for almost 30 years. Since GUSTO is often taken, GUSTO14 is my fall-back and more accurately defines my roots.

GUSTO

Owned a number of SBs over the years and decided my C2 would be a BB for the torque and it would be like owning a dinosaur. Now think my handle's pretty boring. I think I'll just re-register with a cooler name.

When I joined, I only had my C-3, a 1971 Steel Cities Grey Coupe. So,

Hmmm...guess mine is because I like midyears...have owned at least 1 coupe and vert each year from 63-67 except a SWC, for some reason never had the urge to get one.

Because I parked in the same spot at two NCRS Regionals in a row - the moniker got assigned and has stuck ever since...note the fake Old Town graffiti behind my car.

My name is Brad and when I bought my C6 in 2007, I changed my username. It was my only Corvette at the time.

The C6 is gone so maybe I should change it. But I currently have a C2, C3, C5 and C7 so I haven't decided what to change it to.

I once worked with three female software engineers and one started calling me Andy Pandy (my name is Andy). After a few days of that, I jokingly told her that it didn't sound very professional so I preferred to be called Mr. Pandy. From that day forward, when I would arrive at the office I would be greeted by all three with "Good morning, Mr. Pandy" and I started using it as my username whenever I registered for a forum.

I became a millionaire making lead weights. I was regarded as turning lead into gold.

Mine is simply my first name, middle and last initial, and the year I decided to move from New Jersey to Florida. Back in the early days of internet forums, people just used their name, and you knew who they were. Nowadays, it seems no one uses their real name.

With the first name of Ray and a penchant to slum around with my gold grille and chest-mounted clock, this was a natural:

Pretty simple for me...it was my business name for many years. Still is, although I'm not nearly as active as I once was. Here's pic of a sign I had on my office...

Since we had such a varied array of merchandise and services...a friend once said, you should have called this place Alice's Restaurant. (...you can get anything you want, at Alice's Restaurant) after an old Arlo Guthrie tune for those old enough to remember.

..in fact he dared me to say "Formerly Alices Restaurant" on my signs. I decided he was right and my business cards "still" reflect that old referece: Stan's Customs/Formerly Alice's Restaurant

I have been involved in car enthusiast forums since the early 1980's bbs systems hosted on University computers. I had always used my name, but often received advice that a "handle" is preferred.

I lurked on this site, and traded emails with some of the more respected people posting on this site, years before registering.

This is the first forum I employed a handle, and 63 340hp was available.

My son signed me up on the forum and just used my initials and the car year. I'm the GEM not the car.
