Default 1960 Hardtop

Simple question: Are three or two hold down bolts required to secure the 60 hardtop to the rear deck? Seems like they are sold as a pair but the hard top I have looks as though one in the center rear is required. Hardtop may not be a 60.

Thanks

One in the center, one on each side, total three

The hardtop on my '60 is a '56....56-60 fit the same. The design of the head liner or the tie downs may be different.

There is a difference between a 56 and 57-60 but it is not the bolts, it is the chrome front header bar. It is narrower than the 57-60.

56-60 hardtops use 3 of the flange head bolts. 61-62 use four, and 63-75 use two. Some vendors sell them in pairs, while others sell them individually. I'm sure there's more demand for them for 61-75's, which is probably why some vendors sell them in pairs.

Look at it this way, if you have to buy 2 pair, you'll have spare.

Default 1960 Hardtop

When I bought my 60 corvette in 1971 it had 5 bolts in the rear deck for the hardtop. I bought a 57 hardtop with 3 bolts to mount it to the deck. At the time I just thought they had added extra bolts for the 60 for added support. Later I realized the extra 2 bolts where added to allow 61-62 top to be mounted.
