Hood release cable failure
I am the original owner of my '63 triple black convertible. Next week it will be 54 years. Current mileage is 548,000.
I like to share tips about our C2 Vette's and so I will provide this to you. It is that I tied one end of a nylon cord to the left hood latch where the hood release cable is. I put the other end through the fire wall leaving enough to get a hold of when (not if) the cable release fails. I have heard horror stories about failed cable releases so this will work no matter where you are when failure occurs.
For photos & stories please google: Steve Stone 1963 Corvette
Thanks for the interest and safe driving to all.

550K miles. Original owner. Triple black. Wow, wow, and wow.
Another good tip: keep your hood release cable and latches well lubricated, and associated fasteners well-tightened.

My wife and girl friend of 50 years has helped me do a lot of things....unfortunately, I don't think she needs to work on my car. We fight like two sore tail cats in a phone booth:
Wife: Why are you doing this that way?
Me: Because the Shop Manual says that's the proper way?
Wife: If the Shop Manual told you to jump off a bridge, would you do it?
Me: No, but I can think of another reason to jump off a bridge...
Queue sound of door from garage to house slamming then silence.

I think both wives are keepers.

Formula wives use in the old car hobby:
One brown truck for you,
Two brown trucks for me.
It's all good.
