I hate finding these kinds of cars because it really wizzzs me off when they will not sell and you just know it's going to rot away. I've been after a 53 for over 30 years and he said he is planning on fixing it up. It's been outside for years, in his garage now in his basement. I said come on, you know you are never going to restore (he's in his late 70's) so give me a better reason then fixing it up. He said to be honest it's the car I got my first piece of (you know what) in. Hard to argue that.

For some, selling cars they are attached to is like quitting smoking.
You know you should and people tell you to all the time but until you personally are ready, it won't happen.
I hung on to my 75 way longer than I should have and one day I just typed the ad on CL and within a week it was being loaded on a trailer and headed for FINLAND.

in that spot now.....should, need to just dont want to...the few that did contact me through ads if even one threw something reasonable & actually showed up it would have been gone..nope the usual flipper/testing ground tactics they are trying with 20 other cars so here it sits.

the best thing is if it was sitting in that same spot since it was last inspected in 2003 is that he stored it on a paved drive way. but you still need to make sure the bird cage isn't rusted. if the motor is not locked up, and it only needs a good gone over and cleaned up I would say mid 30's

The old man hung on to his second love almost as long as he did his first love. Save it from his widow.

In plain sight!
Driving by the chrome front bumpers caught my eye. I turned around and lo and behold, there it was.....Owner is not ready to let it go and has been planning on restoring it for over a decade.....I was able to give it the once around, without opening the hood or doors. I'm guessing a small block (5300 tach),4 speed, side pipe car. Could be original paint too. Man, I'd love to bring this one back.....
Got the phone number, now I'm in the waiting stage...

A neighbor about 1/2 mile down the road from us had an old Baracuda sitting on blocks for years.......I'm sure that when we asked about it we were far from the first...... not too terribly long after he actually put a hand painted sign on the windsheild declaring, "Not for Sale"
Same story as your Corvette find....."I''m going to restore it"
20 years later.........it's gone now and we never asked what happened to it.......but it's not in his garage or driveway and yet it's hard to imagine it was sold for more than a few parts taken off that hadn't rotted ...... It sat in that field for more than 15 years and with each passing year you could see from a distance that the job to "bring it back" was getting less likely and more expensive.
Sadly some people fail to recognize the difference between "a plan" and "a dream" ....... that said though.....they own the car it's their right to let it die a painful to watch death over time.
Hopefully your Corvette find has a happier ending.
Good luck!
