Default Luci Johnson 65 Corvette

We visited the LBJ National Historic Park near Fredericksburg, TX yesterday & wanted to share these pics of the 65 Sting Ray LBJ bought for his 16-year-old daughter, Luci. There were other cars, mostly Lincolns, but there was also an Amphicar.

And upon receiving the keys to the car, Lucy was heard to say, "This really is a Great Society".

I wonder what the VIN is on it? Anyone know if it's been wrecked in the front? It appears to have a 66 grille.

It appears like some filler is giving up on the headlight surround.

It sure looked better with white walls!

The paint was checking and cracking badly all over the car, but particularly so on the nose. My guess is it had a cheap respray at some point.

wonder what that car is worth. How do you value it being that the former President purchased it? Condition looks kind of shabby as far as the paint but thats easy to fix. I'm wondering if the paint looks like that then maybe nobody has taken care of the mechanicals under the hood and elsewhere

I visited the ranch in 2011 and was in LBJ'S kitchen and looked out the window and saw the Vette sitting under a car port. That.s a cool tour and the plane was cool to see.

Its stored indoors now. Maybe the prior storage in that Texas weather could explain the condition of the paint.....

Hi Morly.

That's a great picture. Thanks for sharing it. It shows the color better than the pics I took because it is stored inside behind reflective plexiglass.

Judging by the license plate in your pic, it looks like it was being driven whereas now I think it just sits. Yes, it looks better with white walls.

I can't speak to the possible front-end damage because I don't know enough about how a car this old should look, plus it was very dark in the room. But what 16-year-old hasn't wrecked his or her 1st car?

Certainly a nice historical c2 with the presidential provenance.
I doubt it would ever be sold in my lifetime but if it does ever change ownership, imo, repairs other than what is needed to make it safe to drive / road worthy would ruin the intrinsic value.

This is the location when I saw it a couple of years ago. I was very surprised to see a Corvette when I came out of the house on a tour. It really was unexpected.
