Default windshield wiper

My driver side wiper on my 66 convertible has too much travel. Can someone tell me how to adjust the travel distance. It goes from cowl way past the pillar and is scraping on the stainless. Thanks

Make sure you have the right length wipers first off. My 63 had exactly the same problem and the length was the issue; next make sure they are positioned properly in the parked position. The DS wiper arm approx 1" above the lower windshield stainless and the PS side wiper about 1" above the DS wiper arm.

Finally, original-style wiper arms have an adjustment screw to get the angle of the blade optimized. The blades, when parked as above, should be nearly horizontal.

Thanks, Correct length, correct parking position. Think I need to find a way to adjust the travel.

You have to make sure the wiper arm is installed on the knurled shaft at the right position and the small straight head screw on the arm is adjusted to keep the blade horizontal.... The DS wiper should be about 1" above the windshield lower stainless and the PS wiper another inch above that...and both as horizontal as possible when the arms are parked...

Even after correct installation, this is a common C2 problem. My 63 has driver side damage, my 65 has damage, and the 64 had minor DS damage. I haven’t found a solution, but at speed, the DS wiper will over travel.

Deleted my post. It's really not that hard to start a fresh thread Ian.

I can't believe that I just posted on a thread from Mar 17. The OP has made two posts total, and the last time that he was on this board was MARCH 2017.

This is final adj screw. You can get more movement than you might think.

The initial alignment on the wiper shafts is super critical. Make sure you use the correct tool for this. Using pliers is a NO, NO! If you are off just one spline, it makes a big difference in blade placement. Dennis
