One Piece Front End
Hi friends, I don't post very often but I've been a member of this forum for a long time. I've owned my 1966 L79 roadster for a little over 15 years. it's been a joy to own and thru out the years I've brought the car to a very high level. Matching numbers, 2 tops, frame on restoration, nothing untouched, all work done correctly. I have taken liberties such as adding vintage a/c, OEM telescoping steering column with teak wheel, BeCool aluminum radiator, Muncie M22 trans, my original will go with the car, 2 1/2 inch exhaust manifolds, etc. You can see I'm not a NCRS guy even though I am a member. When i bought the car i knew it had a one piece front end on it, the car was a project car when i got it. This happened prior to the previous owners ownership. So it's been on the car for over 25 years. Long story short, I'm going to sell the car now. I want to price it fairly and don't know how much of a hit i should take for the front end change. Your thoughts are always appreciated. Marv

I would price the car at a number that you are comfortable with and not worry about how much less it's worth with that one piece front end. It may not matter to some buyers. The reality is It will reduce the value to an educated buyer just look at what it would cost to put a correct front on the car by a new owner. That cost would be about $15,000 to $20,000 with Paint.

You got the car with full knowledge of the repairs and seems like you want to honestly represent it to a buyer. Good for you. It looks nice and you should be able to get a nice driver price for the car.
You DO know that, with wipers parked, the PS wiper arm should be ABOVE the DS wiper arm...right ?
The numbers above prob are close but a bit conservative on what an original front end replacement would cost by a top shop so you can work from there...but don't dock the car too much - its damn fine looking from what can be seen.

I am sure you wont have a problem selling that car. The purist will stay away knowing it has a 1 piece but RegularJoe will be all over it. Great colors and clean from the pics. Good Luck

Nice car. I'm guessing around 50k depending on how nice everything is. If you didn't tell them, I don't think most buyers would catch or care about the front end.

Marv, I used to own a similar car, except it was a coupe. Born with L79, but it had a one piece Ecklers front end that was installed in the early 80's when it had been reduced to a project car. It had pretty weak paint, but it was probably my favorite car of all of them I've owned. Sold it in 2009 for what I figured was $5-$7000 less than a comparable car without the one piecer. Last I heard the guy I sold it to sold it to somebody else who just spent some bucks to repaint it, leaving the front end as is.
Here is a pic from when I had it:
