Which direction does the bearing go on the shaft? There is a recessed area on the bearing per the attached picture....does the recessed go on inboard or outboard of the shaft. Please advise and thanks in advance for your input to my question?

It doesn't matter. Either way is fine.

Actually large side goes out. Probably doesn't matter but AIM shows this orientation and I've read it in a number of places.
