Door end caps 59/60
We recently had a thread which was locked apparently due to old age. But a point was raised which has me curious.
It was said there is a difference in the door end caps between 59 and 60. It's been almost 50 years since I sold my '59 (damn, how did THAT happen?) and I just can't picture what we are talking about there.
Anybody have a pic or diagram of this? Thanks!

I don't have a picture but the later one had a small raised lip on the edge. I assume its purpose was to help shed water.

There are 4 different types of door end caps.
The 56-58 is smooth with no hole in it. The 58-59 is also smooth, but with an attaching hole in it. On the 59-60, a ridge was added on each side of the hole. 61-62's are smooth again, and have a hole, but are significantly longer than the earlier ones.
I've never seen anything indicating a month or VIN number, for when the caps changed in 58 or 59.

MMMM, my car is worth more now. It has very rare parts from a 56!
For sale, one 56-60 NCRS Corvette, never redlined, never driven in the rain, never abused, bought new only one owner, never hit, original 327 factory engine, original factory Pertronix distributor, original factory 3 inch wide Diamondback whitewalls, original factory Halogen headlights, original factory LED tail lights, original factory wonderbar- bluetooth radio.
$1,250,999.99 Cash only.
But wait, if the car is purchased today you will receive an original factory spare tire donut and a 1956 very rare, factory door end cap that was accidently put on the car. From what I am told, this is the only Corvette in existence like this. Very rare.
Hurry, operators are standing by.
