Today's update....
Have you ever tried to buy a "good" tool on a Saturday?? The snap rings in this GForce are some stout *****'s. I had forgotten that the last time I swapped some gears around in this thing my snap ring pliers really got a work out. They're Snap-On..but really not up to these dudes.
So after several stops at various parts stores and finding the best "heavy duty" set I could find...they broke on the 2nd ring. So back to find something better. Drove a long ways to Northern Tool...found some that were better...but they were still POS. I managed to use them, along with some lock ring pliers and a few screwdrivers...and a lot of language...to get it done. I will definitely be ordering some good ones before I have to swap it back to drag race mode in a few weeks.
Anyway...got the gears swapped around. This G-Force trans really is a neat piece.
Got it put back in a little while ago. A little too late for a test drive. Maybe tomorrow morning.
Now if I can get some wheels here......
Still a lot of little things to do....but I think I might pull this off.
More to come!
If you look at the fourth gearset from the left (4th gear) you can see the difference in the teeth count that make it O/D. The next to the bottom pic is O/D.
The old ratios were 3.49/2.39/1.77/1.43/1.00.
The new ones are 3.49/2.39/1.54/0.92/1.00
I'll just use 1-4th at the TX Mile. I changed 3rd gear ratios so it wouldn't be so big of a drop in 4th. Not the most efficient way to do it and weird....but it works!!

As one of the last guys honestly drag racing and shooting for speed, fun watching you!
It takes a lot to get a C2 to perform the way you have! I remember our old days drag racing where we worked to hook up the slick across the entire footprint because of squat camber changes! I remember a bigger footprint with a larger drag slick was breaking our rear ends. I remember actually blocking under the rear diff to give the car more room to squat and eventually switched preferring a heavy rear spring of a road race setup that gave up the best of both! We dipped low 11s/high 10s when we figured that out! On street rubber or Autocross rubber, we could run wider tires and not break rear diffs, but for pure drag slicks, we found about a 9 inch to be the limit to not break the cars rear ends! Then we got into the fancy go fast parts that drastically improve durability and longevity of the rear ends (30 splines, bolt on drive flanges, polished cages, elimination of the diff springs internally, and c-clipped heat treated spiders). At speed, at the drags or running to top end- before you worry about the aero, you have to get the suspension figured out to not end up skating all over and spinning due to excessive wheel movements that upset a full footprint, by sudden camber changes! Old street racer! On track is so much easier being they are usually smooth, flat and free of surprises!
PS I have a very special built custom HD Richmond 6-speed, and that thing is trick! The G-Force years preceded the Richmond take over, so you have had that box for awhile if you are still calling it a G-Force! It looks like you accidentally mistyped? The new 4th and 5th (1.00 and .92)! I am on a crappy iPhone were I can't tell from the picture your gears sets you showed! But it does look like your 4th is slightly smaller!? I am set up to run a 3.04 1st, so as to not be as brutal having a 3.73 rear 12 bolt gear set that I am trying next! My 2nd to 5th I mimic a CR Muncie running 2.20, 1.58. 1.24, and 1.00 and then I have a high torque load capable .80 final! I was running a 3.55 on the old box and had a far different gear set up, but I don't want to go quite that fast in a C2. So how fast do you hope to get to????? You are heading toward real rarified air, as you chase this high speed passion!
Keep up the Great updates! Much appreciated!

I worry more about the air trapped by the rear end, and what is happening under our cars! I would take the rear exhaust panel completely off! And resist the temptation to do it with your drivers window down and arm on the window seal!

Jim, you may want to consider running a strong piece of tape across the top of the windshield and hard top to help keep the top secured.

Doug Nash was the parent company originally. Richmond bought them. I had a Nash street trans and it was literally one of the last few made. It handled power pretty sldecent until we got past 800 ho then 3rd gear didn't like it.
GForce is a similar looking design but there are a lot of differences even when compared to the race trans from Nash in the old days.
I'm shooting for an 8 sec quarter mile and 200 mph in essentially the same way I drive it on the street with only tire changes.
Yep....duct tape will be used across the windshield header just like I did on the soft top.
Thanks for for all the support guys. I'm trying to represent the "Lunatic Fringe" element of our hobby!!

I hope you hit your numbers at the Mile.
Look finally buddy of mine... "Hemi Sam" he will be running a twin turbo 392 stroker. His number is "392". He should run somewhere around 210 or better.

Alright....another update:
The wheel fiasco came together finally at 3:30PM this afternoon when the right ones finally arrived. And they fit!! My wife was waiting outside for the UPS guy while I was on conference calls. She grabbed them and took off to the Goodyear store to have the tires removed from the wrong wheels and installed on the correct one. She had called ahead and he said if she got there before 4Pm he could do it. She walked in at 3:58 and they were waiting for her.
The correct fasteners for the hardtop arrived today too...so got that secured. Double checked everything I could think of and took a little test drive and then loaded up tools and the car on the trailer. Heading out first thing in the morning...about a 5.5-6.0 hour drive.
Here's the latest look. For as many years as I've whined about "rubber band" tires....I gotta admit it's growing on me. Definitely different! Heck...I might as well stick the front swaybar back on and start Auto-X now!!

I can relate to the snap ring pliers search. The heaviest pair I could find were not really adequate for the thick rings on my torqueflite. The tips weren't really any better than on the cheaper, lighter ones.
Good luck with the run. Looks like you are well prepared.
