15x7 wheels on a stock C2?
Just curious, can you run a 15X7 wheel on a stock C2 without modification, or worrying about cracking fiberglass over a bump? If so, what backspacing front and rear? Lastly, what tire size? Ive noticed theres a drastic shortage in 15 inch performance tires....especially in Corvette sizes.
Thanks,
Greg

Yes.
Depends on the year ('63-'64 or '65-'67). I run 3-7/8 or 3-3/4" BS (depends on if you consider 1/8" thick "bead" along the inside lip or not).
You can run a 225 and possibly 235 wide without interference.
These are 225/60/15 on 7"-wide Western Wheels.
And you are correct. There are no more high performance tires for these. I got the last set (Z-rated) and you're looking at them.

I have American 200-S 15x7 w/3 5/8 BS w/205/70/15. NO issues and my car sits very low due to suspension modifications. Dennis

It'd sure be nice if one of the retro tire suppliers would make the old Goodyear "Gatorback" tires with the VR rating.
I'm sure they'd have folks lining up to get a set...

but it's about an inch shorter than the typical 7.75-15 of the day.

They do however make the Eagle GT P215/65 – R15 which is closer in diameter.
Unfortunately neither of these tires are inexpensive.

I just got some 225/50ZR-15 Pirelli P Zero "Y" (186 MPH) rated tires recently to use in the TX Mile. I installed them on 7" Rally wheels. They fit fine with my stock front fenders.

Any pics? Those are 3 inches smaller in diameter...Im just curious how they look in the wheel well as Toyo makes a 225/50/15 in their R888 tires. I had these on my C5 (admittedly in 18s) and absolutely loved them. Id just be concerned about them looking ridiculously small in the wheel well with that drastic of a diameter difference.
Thanks

These were take-offs for Saleen Mustangs and I would sell the wheels afterwards making the tires almost free.
Just like these:

I run 15x7 rally wheels on my 63 with stock hubcaps and 205/75/15 whitewalls.

FlyNavy30- I sent you a PM back...I don't have any closeups...but you can get an idea in these pics. Understand I haven't lowered it any yet )I've got coilovers on the front). I had it still up in the air to clear the tall drag race front tires when I went to dragstrip the other day.

On a drum brake 63/64 if you want to drop it one coil, a classic American mag 7x15 (3-7-8 BS and with a 3-3/4 might have to slightly trim the fender, but not to a noticeable extent!) with a 215/60-15 will fit. The sizes stated fit if you don't lower! This would be your best fit, if you like the race raked look!

anyone running a 215/70/15?....about the same height as the factory 205/75/15 but about half an inch wider...just curious if theres enough room to run that on a 15x7 with 3.75 in backspacing

I have been using both 6.5" and 7" on my 67(unmodified body). I can actually get 8's in the back now as I've installed Global west offset trailing arms. As to tires, I think the 50 series are just too short. I've been running Pirelli V-rated P6000s, Dunlop vintage race tires, etc in 15".
