I know i'm not answering your specific question, but if you use one of the units shown that push against the carburetor bellcrank, then there should be more than sufficient travel.

My carb has no choke, so if your don't keep the idle up when cold, you have to continually feather the pedal.

I attached a solonoid to the washer pump and it pulls the linkage with a chain. I have a turnbuckle-type fitting to adjust the tension. I have a switch under the dash to activate it. Really works well when the engine is near cold and you pull up to a stop light. Hit the button and the engine doesn't die while you sit there.
