Checking NMVTIS for existence of car
Hi all;
I have located a cheaper way to access National Motor Vehicle Title Information System.
The link is: https://dmvdesk.com/reports-2/nmvtis/
You enter the VIN you are interested in, and if the car is in the database, it will tell you that. The report on the car (basically what state it is / was registered in) is $2.00.
Beats the $4.95 for add123.com

These sites don't have a database of their own, they just access the NMVTIS itself. So while the cost may vary, the info should (in theory) be the same no matter which one you use.
I'm not sure when the system itself was started. But some states participated before it was mandatory, others waited until they had to. And the info entered in some cases goes back 15 or more years but I think it's safe to say 40 years is not going to show up - that was long before they dreamed up the system.
