Obviously, you like our era of Corvettes, and hopefully old cars in general. Here's a peek at an often over-looked but extremely unusual and rare model...the 1967 Chevrolet SS427. This was not a regular Super Sport model. It was optioned separately from other Super Sports by Chevrolet and lasted for three years. It's the original RPO Z-24........the full-size 1967 Chevrolet SS427.
Check out the factory hood on this model...
_
Now what do you suppose those hood stacks were intended to represent?
The above from the 1967 Chevrolet A.I.M. and yes, Chevrolet considered offering the L-68 (400hp) and L-71 (435hp) 427s in the full-sized Chevy.
_
Interesting use of the 427 hood numbers from Corvette, isn't it?
Factory?..........yep!
_
_
Just another part of 67HEAVEN. No, I don't own one, but wouldn't it look nice in the garage beside the Corvette when it's finished? ;)
Lots more here....... http://www.impalass427.com/67ss427.htm

Oh man, that Impala reminds me of a 1969 Impala I had back in the mid 70's. Well, it didn't have a 427 (it was a 327 2 Bbl), and it was white with a black vinyl top, and a Powerglide to boot, but, well, you know what I mean...   :leaving:

I had a Champagne Gold '67 Impala SS with the 396, redline Wide Ovals and disc brakes when it was new in late '66; wish I still had it today. A couple of years later I had a (new) '69 Caprice 2-door hardtop (with the neat concave back window) with the 427, buckets, console, A/C, vinyl top, etc. - neat ride in those days. Worked for Chevrolet in those days, bought two new ones every year on my discount, always came out even or better every year on them.

I had a 69 Olds 442 conv 4sp 411 posi that passed everything but the gas station. Downshifting from 4th to 3rd broke the wheels loose.
Sold it to get married - 4 years ago.
Do I miss the car.

Denny - My dad, bought a 69, White/blue, Impala, SB, off the showroom floor ! I was only 5 at the time. So, I only remember a few things about it - like the battery exploding on the way to Panama City, Fla :cry It served him pretty well and it was my brothers first car, when he turned 16. My dad, laughed at him, because he tried to outrun the Police in it  It was pretty tired by then ! What a hunk of iron !

WEll we do have the larger GTO back now in 2003. That takes the slot of the GM model range nicely for this SS.
The 4th gen Camaro SS does a nice job of living up to the legend of that 67 also IMHO :)

Another one of my fantasy projects..... since I can't afford a real 67 SS427, I want to buy a 67 Impala convertible and drop in a ZZ502! :) Need a cruiser with a back seat! :) MJ

Re: (MNJack)
A couple years age I owned a 68 SS427. It didn't have the original engine but I always thought a 502 would work great in the car. The guy I sold it to did put a 502 in the car with tri-power but never made it run. Right now the car is sitting in the corner of his garage covered up. A couple things I really liked about the car was the hideaway headlights and the hood. The car was a little different than the standard issue Impala. :chevy

Father-in-law has a beautiful SS '65 Impala. His dad bought it new. Always debate with him about dropping in a 427, now it has a sweet 327 in it. Will have to scan a few pics.
Friend of his had the SS427 ride, pretty sweet and if you missed the 427 Emblems not a bad street sleeper either! Think Super Chevy had an article a ways back on a "real" 67 SS427 and a clone. Have to dig it out of the archives.
Later.
