I spoke with Keisler today about the ship date of my 5 speed tranny.. They are getting close to shipping it with in a week . For those of you not Familiar with this tranny ..It is a kit with evey thing included to drop in with out pulling your motor.Even comes with the drive shaft and speedo cable and gear and the tranny mount. Goes right into the stock hole in the console and no cutting.

As some of you know, I am having a tranny install party with food and drink and a BBQ and Champagne after the install..(Beer with the install). The Install will be photo documented for posting on the corvette forum.

Keisler Automotive Eng. is toying with the idea of sending one of there Transmission Techs up to the party to help with the install and answer questions about their Transmission. This is not written in stone yet but a good possibility if enough people are interested in coming out to eat and drink and have a fun day of Corvette Banter as well as wrench if you want on my C 2.

If you are interested in free food and Beer and meeting some of the guys you chat with on the forum this is the place to be.

There are two dates I am planning, one would be Saturday 5/17/03 the other would be Saturday 5/24/03. Not sure of which one it will be . But it looks like
5/24/03 might win out.

The install will be done at Bruce's house (Blue62vette) in his 3 1/2 car garage
on a lift. There's 5 acre's to park you Vette on so don't worry about door dings.

i'm a little far away to make your tranny party, but would like to stay in the loop here as i have plans to do a 502 and tremec tko install in my '64 later this year.. maybe keisler's modified tko is a better way to go it seems.. costs a little more, but if it saves me a little hacking, that would be great..
let me know if the tranny mount and all truly stay the same..
would be great if all i have to worry about is hood clearance on my big block (currently has a small block in it!)

Saw their display to Super Chevy on Sunday at Pomona. Looks good including the shifter. I know I am going out on a limb but I think even you and your henchmen can do this right. :D Think you will be happy with this set up if looks means anything. Mel--good luck and have fun.

I know they make another version for you High HP Guys... and all you do is drop it in. I like the no cutting and chopping thang... So even with a few 6 packs in you it should be fairly easy :cheers:

I looked at their transmission setup in Knoxville. I was well impressed. Anxious to hear the results of the road test.

Gee, if you were not so far away, I'd toy with the idea of just drivin' over and helping out. My guess I'm a good 650-700 miles or more from you. Sittin' here in southeastern Michigan just north of Detroit.

I am real intrigued with this tranny and installation ease. Needless to say I am looking forward to your posts and pics on this.

That looks like a pretty slick package. I am impressed with the forward shifter mount. Someone has finally adapted the shifter to the front mounting location. This should open up all kinds of new applications like the 55-57 Chevy they show on their web site. Before you had to put in bucket seats to use this tranny in the shoebox cause the shifter hits the stock bench seat. Cool!

Hope everything goes as planned and there are no surprises. The rep would be wise to help for the good pub it would bring him from members of the Forum.

That will be a great Party, maybe pace the drinking when you start because of the 5 to 7 hour install time!!!

I also called Kiesler yesterday because I ordered my 5 speed over 3 weeks ago and had not heard any news of its delivery. Mine is still 2 to 3 weeks away. Keisler said that the shifter design was being modified for more clearance. The shifter presently fits the vette but they want a universal fit for other GM cars.

I just talked to my 'management' and if this is an open invite, I want to be there. 5/17 is good for me but, if it will be 5/24, management said that Memorial day weekend is open the shore house time, so I can't do that weekend. I haven't done any wrenching in awhile as my 66 is in the paint (this weekend) stage.

I may actually try to make it down there for the trans party. I'll check with the "head scheduler" to see if I'm free that weekend. The only small worry I have is that I haven't driven that far in my 64 since I've owned it and would not want to break on the way (still worried a bit about a high speed overheating issue). I'll give it a good checkout and if everything looks good, you can count me in! I like getting dirty. :)

Hey Nam Vette,

For those of us who would like to be at your party and get greasy and drink beer but can't because of the distance. You need to take that beast on the U.S. forum member tour after you get that tranny installed. You'll have that extra gear to keep you on the highway and happy. Do a Route 66 and come see us all who can't make it to your house. We'll supply the regional beers and some grease from our cars. :flag

Can't wait to see the pics on that one and the install story. I've had my eye on that tranny and I think about it everytime I'm on the highway in my LT1 6spd Formula and cruise along at almost 1000 rpm's. I think, wouldn't it be great if my vette 'vert could do that or at least close to it!

SUBFIXER...Come on down..we would like to have you party with us. If you don't feel like taking the chance with the 64 ...bring the getto cruzer...

4WDVETTE...Which shore are you speaking about?? Were only 30 min from most of the AC Jersey shore areas... At least you could shoot over for a beer and a burger... And a couple of pictures for the forum :cheers: :cheers:

I have a place in Surf City, just up the GSP. So, maybe I could talk the wife into a little cruise down the parkway in the T/A.

By the way, I don't drink - blood sugar problem - so that is why I am always the designated driver. Tuff luck - heh! So I could check out all the C2's and C3's that show up.

Send me the info - I will try to make the 24th. The 17th would be a definite.

Also if most people can'tmake it on the 24th of May we could move up one week to Saturday 6/1/03.. I'm still going back and forth with the dates. Alot depends on when they ship the tranny.. will kep you posted..

6/1 would also work.

As long as they are not those 'sneak attack' non-alcohol' drinks, sounds good. I just can't loose my designated driver status. I haven't driven my C2 in a long time. The T/A WS6 is fun but, need a C2 fix.

Definitely keep me posted.
