Default StrayDog just ordered drag radials, couldnt wait for SANTA

Went to New England Dragway on "OLDIES DAY" ran the 1/4 mile with my 66 big/block, 60 foot times 2.5 , last October 60 foot times 2.6 & 2.7 ...best ET (last Oct 13.7 @ 102 mph) , this year a flat 14 @101 MPH temp in mid 80s..............sick of no traction & going sideways ...hopefully drag radials will get me in the 1.9 sec... 60 foot time & low 13s time will tell..>>>.note got small drag radials as I dont want to break halfshafts.......... :steering: :auto:  :seeya :flag

Straydog's gonna go 12's...Straydog's gonna go 12's!!

C'mon...doesn't someone have set of 3.70's you can slip under that dude and let that 427 loose???

Maybe some cheap exhaust cutouts off those manifolds???

Some 90/10 shocks for the weekend? No swaybar?

205/50! Man, those are some little/short tires! but with your highway gears it'll help.... it'll just look, well.... you have short tires on the front also?

66 427....The dia is 23" & 8" tread...this will help final drive ratio for the 1/4 mile :auto: I only live 23/25 miles from the track will only put them on when going to & from track.....I do approx 10 runs a year & will only use them on Sundays.........my previous 60 foot are 2.6 & 2.7 hopefully 2.0 what do you think...question do the slicks have to be balenced like a conventional tire?????????/  :steering: :seeya :flag :auto:

i'm looking at race tires as well (for me, a set of Hoosier's may be the way to go)...... more of a sticky/soft all round tire, for handling and straight line performance....... but a set of drag slick are not out of he question, for those special ocassions :-)

The last drag slicks I had were Racemasters, bias ply, that required very low pressure to bite/launch, and had to be screwed to the wheel (that's what we did years ago). I don't know how low you have to run radial slicks?? but mark the tire/rim to see if there is any movement.

Balanced? yeah sure.

I'm no expert, but lauching is an art, it's about tire heat, air pressure, track conditions and RPM...... there is no "rule"..... it depends on your unique engine HP/torque curves, gearing, etc., etc. You'll just have to try a few things and what works for your combo.

At only 23" tall and 205 wide they won't come close to anything. Keep in mind that only the tread is wider, the sidewall is still 205mm. What size tires do you normally run?
